Categorization
[edit]Hi Stella,
first of all I would like to welcome you on Wikimedia Commons and thank you for releasing your pictures. We always need more subject-matter experts, esp. biologists!
But please note, that at Commons pictures get categorized and not tagged (like on most other platforms). You may read COM:OVERCAT as a guide.
So categories like
[[Category:Freshwater]] [[Category:New Zealand]] [[Category:Australia]]
are too generic for pictures of an Australian freshwater species.
But keep going and don't think too much about categories. Others will be glad to recategorize your pictures. The Commons category system is a mess in many parts, so nobody should be blamed for using "wrong" categories in the beginning.
