This media may be deleted.
Thanks for uploading File:Login USENIX Newsletter feb1983.djvu. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you.

@EugeneZelenko: , not sure what this is about... I used IA Upload to upload a USENIX newsletter from the official archive of the newsletters on archive.org where the file is clearly marked as being public domain. Not sure where the lack of permission issue crops up. Any help/clarification would be appreciated. Regards.Sohom data (talk) 15:15, 3 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Publication is obviously not 70 years old. archive.org is unreliable source of copyrights statuses. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 18:31, 3 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Autopatrol given

[edit]

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. Abzeronow (talk) 15:51, 5 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

timeout or storage issue with CropTool

[edit]

Hi Sohom Datta, thanks for your work on the CropTool. It's good to see it still running on the new servers. At Commons_talk:CropTool we noticed some issues with larger files (or possibly many concurring crops). That it may not work with very large files isn't surprising, but it also fails on files where it previously worked, e.g. File:1165 Murten.jpg, a file that was uploaded by @Yann: , among other things, to simplify crops. As I'm not a programmer, I can't fix it myself, but from the symptoms we noticed in the discussion, it may be a storage space or timeout issue (the tool loading the file from Commons). If you have a moment and recall settings for any of these can you try to increase them? Enhancing999 (talk) 12:09, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

File:Visited links vs unvisited links color difference.png Just went ahead and fixed the author section for you. While you may take take screenshots yourself, you have to keep in mind what you're taking a screenshot of and tell people who created the original content. It's no big deal (although your GA reviewer should have flagged the issue), just something to keep in mind for the future. And while it's entirely possible that this individual screenshot could have been fine (DEMINIMIS and all), the US court system has a very low bar when it comes to assessing creativity and there's absolutely no reason not to attribute the original authors in this particular scenario. There's even a really handy template for the licensing field: Template:Wikipedia-screenshot

Also, could you let me know if I guessed the source correctly? GreenLipstickLesbian (talk) 02:18, 14 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I think you are probably correct wrt to the exact page, but the revision was wrong, I've updated that. Will keep {{Wikipedia-screenshot}} in mind for future uploads. Sohom (talk) 02:27, 14 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah revision was just a guess. Thanks for double-checking! GreenLipstickLesbian (talk) 02:40, 14 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
