Welcome2WP - request
[edit]Hello! Wikimedia Poland Association is going to publish Polish version of "Welcome to Wikipedia" paper. For that we need to replace original screenshots in this paper onto screenshots from pl.wiki. I've tried to make such big screenshots (over 5000x4000px) but I could not. Can you help me making this screenhots or giving some advice? Thanks in advance! (Our first preview pdf is available here.) Best wishes from Poland, Patrol110 (talk) 18:18, 29 August 2011 (UTC)
- I wasn't the person who made the original screenshots (I think it was the Bookshelf contractor), but I believe they were scaled-up PNG images made from normal-sized screenshots. I'd suggest making a regular screenshot in PNG format, and then using GIMP or some other program to scale it up. It will end up somewhat pixelated (as is the English file, I believe), but it will look fine in the PDF and printed versions.--Sageross (talk) 18:32, 29 August 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you so much for information. Is it possible that you give me contact info to the Bookshelf contractor? But, once again I am very grateful :) Patrol110 (talk) 18:39, 29 August 2011 (UTC)
- The contractor was Aradhanar. Frank Schulenburg was in charge of it.--Sageross (talk) 18:44, 29 August 2011 (UTC)

Autopatrol given
[edit]Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. Jean-Fred (talk) 19:06, 2 April 2013 (UTC)

Some problems with the Welcome to Commons brochure
[edit]Hi Sage, I think there are a couple more problems with the Welcome to Commons brochure. I've described them and suggested improvements at Commons talk:Welcome to Commons brochure. --Avenue (talk) 06:25, 25 July 2013 (UTC)
Re: Commons brochure source files:
[edit]Thanks! I'll share it with the others in WMIT, but what they'll ask is how to make it into a wiki page where to translate and adapt the content: is the text easy to extract from (and map to) the indd? --Nemo 18:06, 15 August 2013 (UTC) P.s.: Is that some stable WMF-owned dropbox account, by the way?
- Ok. We translate things collaboratively, so translating by directly editing the indd file is not an option for us. Good for Translate, though I'm wondering what degree of liberty there should be (how big the translation units should be) so that people can also customise the brochure a bit if they want. Last time we kept the graphics and managed to keep every adjustment within its boundaries, though, so it should not be a big problem for us I think. --Nemo 04:50, 16 August 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks, forwarded. Let's see how fast we proceed. :) --Nemo 13:33, 19 August 2013 (UTC)

Editing Wikipedia brochure
[edit]Hi Sage, I hope all is good with you. I wonder if it would be possible to get the InDesign files of the new Editing Wikipedia booklet please? I'd like to get some printed here in the UK but would like to work on the look and feel so that it fits in with our other publications. I also need to convert the booklet to an international paper size. Thank you! Stevie Benton (WMUK) (talk) 11:45, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Stevie! The latest source I have access to is this one. This one does not include the recent update made by Wikimedia Foundation, which updates the cover. User:AKoval (WMF) or User:TFlanagan-WMF should be able to update that file with the latest version. (Wiki Education Foundation will be doing our own minor update soon, as well, with some added branding for our org that might be easily switchable for WMUK branding. We also intend to keep Adrianne on the cover for this and any future editions. If you'd like to get the source files for the Wiki Ed version, let me know and I will try to get them.)--Sage (Wiki Ed) (talk) 15:53, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
- Hello, Stevie (WMUK). Thanks for asking about that. I will be uploading the new InDesign and Scribus files shortly. Thanks, Sage (Wiki Ed). Appreciate you pinging me on this. My best to you both, Anna Koval (WMF) (talk) 18:07, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
- Hello both, thank you very much indeed for such a speedy response. Your help is very much appreciated! Stevie Benton (WMUK) (talk) 10:25, 12 September 2014 (UTC)
