Hello. I've just taken the libery of uploading the above and linking it to the Wikipedia Stranraer article, which I hope (a) doesn't contravene your licensing; and (b) doesn't put your nose out of joint. If it has, I will immediately mark it for deletion and/or take whatever action you wish and/or should be taken. Thank you for a great picture!
Best wishes, David Kernow 11:22, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

FlickrLickr uploads
[edit]Hi, I'm moving these comments here from my talk page. I'm not sure about the copyright status of the statues -- in Germany we distinguish between those statues which are permanently exhibited publicly, and those which are not. But in any case, you should know that these three pictures might be deleted.--Eloquence 21:10, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for uploading Image:Elvis Statue - Memphis.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear.
- Thanks for uploading Image:Egg object Memphis.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear.
- Thanks for uploading Image:Yellow and Brown Stained Glass Window.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear.
- Hi there - I am the reviewer who uploaded them. Since I am just a reviewer I am not going to be hugely bothered if they are removed - but as far as I was aware publicly displayed statues (which are statues, not artwork installations) are not held under any special protection and so can be licensed under CC. Obviously plenty of pictures are uploaded to flickr without their authors knowing that they can't be uploaded under CC (a closeup of a cola label for example), but in this case I was fairly certain that the images were fine (and precedents such as most of the pics in this category, for example, would tend to suggest they were fine). Thanks. SFC9394 22:18, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
- Ah Flickr users changing their licenses again? This one should be tagged copyvio, because it's now CC-BY-NC-ND... Anyway, the LAME comment in the Village pump is what I wanted to comment upon... You're absolutely right about that, even after two versions were made (as in.. let the folks on xx.wikipedia or other project decide) edit warring continued. Maybe COM:LAME should be created... - And suddenly the links above were red, thanks for reminding. Most pictures in the NY Sculptures cat are in the PD by the way. I haven't been active long enough here to know if there have been more episodes like the flag dispute (prolly yes) but if someone would make COM:LAME it surely deserves a mention. PixAile user.
[edit]Hi SFC9394 and sorry to have make so a mess... by lack of experience on this Wiki concept for wich I'm not used to. I'm PixAile and the pixAile9 pic was aimed to illustrate my personal userpage and only that, nothing else. I just cropped off this pic from my userpage this afternoon, and you can cropp it off Commons right now (i just understood I can't do it myself...).
Thinking about all that, I change my mind : for the future, I decide to stop giving pics to Commons if there is no watermark included, at least for my best ones, and replace them by simple links... much more easy to put in. Thank you and forgive my beginner's mistake.

Location Maps of Scotland
[edit]I have been trying to figure out how to move the black dot on the generic map without any success and any hints would be appreciated. I presume it then also has to be saved in a new name? W. L. Tarbert 20:47, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
- Many thanks - Image:Flannan-Scotland (Location).png now uploaded. W. L. Tarbert 11:08, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
VHR Topo Map of Scotland
[edit]Dear SFC9394, I am using maps based on your VHR map of Scotland using CC2.5, on my site. Thanks for the map, it is superb quality and just what I needed. My site is www.walkhighlands.co.uk (free info for walkers, site supported by relevant adverts)- can you check how you are credited and let me know if that is ok or whether you need anything else.
Many thanks Paulwebster (Wikipedia user account name; no wikipedia commons account)
- Everything looks fine - feel free to let me know if you need anything specific made up. SFC9394 15:50, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
Use of Map
[edit]Am I allowed to use this map (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Scottish_infobox_template_map.png)for other language versions of Wikipedia? I want to put a red dot and the name of the place described on the map.Eog1916 (talk) 13:47, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
- Absolutely, the file is hosted here at the commons - Image:Scottish infobox template map.png - so all you need to do is use the filename on other language versions and it will automatically show up. SFC9394 (talk) 21:19, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
Bay
[edit]Hi Sorry to be pedantic but I know the area very well..I was born and brought up in Portpatrick. Your image is actually of Knock bay, the next bay immediatly up from Killintringan Bay. The large house on teh cliff is Knock House.
- Hi, I guess you are referring to File:Killantringan Bay.jpg, in which case I didn't take the picture or add the descriptor; I simply copied the image from the Geograph Project, where the photographer had provided the description. Wikimedia Commons, in the same manner as wikipedia, encourages people to be be bold, so you can simply edit the description on the file page to correct any inaccuracies you find!
