- I think that at the time I registered my choice of capitalization didn't work. Regardless, everything should be fixed now. Thanks for reminding me about this! -SCEhardt 04:41, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Flickr photos with changed license
[edit]Hello,
the images you tagged for speedy deletion, Image:Mountain Ash 1.jpg and Image:Mountain Ash 2.jpg, were originally licensed under CC-BY when the FlickrLickr bot spidered them. The license was changed by the uploader later on. As I understand it, this has no legal validity. I have tagged the images with Template:Flickr-change-of-license to make this clear.--Eloquence 19:19, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
- Ah, excellent. I just assumed the uploader had made a mistake. Thanks for explaining this! -SCEhardT 20:31, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
template:wikipedia
[edit]Hi,
As I noticed that you added template:wikipedia to an article, it seemed fair that I let you know that I have questioned the relevance of this template in the Village pump#Template:wikipedia.

I have marked this image for speedy deletion, as the packaging is copyright. The image may be OK under a fair-use rationale, eg on Wikipedia, but Commons does not accept Fair Use images. --MichaelMaggs 14:00, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
Good questions: you might try the village pump and see what others think. Generally, a photo of a 2D copyright work will be a non-allowable infringement unless the work is merely incidental in the overall image (eg a shop sign in a street scene). The same applies even if the 2D work is wrappped in some way around a 3D object, such as the coffee jar you mentioned. A photo of a 3D object, such as the bar itself, or piece of jewellery, will usually be OK, but different countries may have different rules on that. --MichaelMaggs 20:50, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
This image was from sxc.hu, which license terms were not considered free enough to warrant {{Copyrighted free use}}. I therefore asked the author to release the image under a free license, which they did. See also this old version. I believe the current {{Copyrighted free use}} is not valid and will remove it. sorry about replacing your pictures
[edit]hey, i know that you currently aren't active on wikipedia anymore but i just wanted to drop you a line and say sorry for replacing most all of the pictures that you had uploaded to the candy section. i realize that it was a lot of hard work, but i was normalizing all of the candy pages and taking pictures that i tried to achieve a high quality for. since that makes most things redundant and unnecessary, that meant most of your pictures got the boot. still, i appreciate what you did and how long they were there.
- Hey, no worries. Glad to see the articles improved by your great pics! -SCEhardT 15:55, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

I'm looking for a higher-resolution version of one of your photos
[edit]Hello, I work for a non-profit and we would love to use one of your photos of the Rio Grande in some printed materials - however, we need a higher resolution photo to do so. Would that use be alright with you, and if so do you have a higher-res version available you would be willing to share with us? The photo in questions is here: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Big_Bend_National_Park_-_Rio_Grande_riverbed_with_cracked_mud.jpg. For more information about the non-profit, please see www.wildearthguardians.org. You can contact me at tjones@wildearthguardians.org. Thank you for your time,
Taylor Jones

University and college yearbooks
[edit]
University and college yearbooks has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category. In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you! |
