Mr. M.M. Sahoo (Manmohan Sahoo)
[edit]Engr. Manmohan Sahoo/ Former Dy. G.M. (Prodn) IDC Limited / Former Mbr. to NFC (Nuclear Fuel Complex), DEPARTMENT OF ATOMIC ENERGY, Govt. of India, born on 1 Feb 1945, at Ampolaba, Odisha, a well distinguished Indian Metallurgical Engineer. Education: Schooled under B.S.E Orissa HSE (1963), Pre. Prof. (1965) under Utkal University, B.Sc(Engg)Met. at Regional Engineering College, Rourkela, Odisha (now NIT Rourkela)
Introduced and integrated, Less common Nuclear melting techniques, electron beam melting , levitation melting to the eastern states of India i.e. Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal.Also Served significantly in the integration of German low shaft blast furnaces with existing smelting furnaces of IDC (Industrial Development Corporation of Odisha Limited.) in the eastern state of Odisha aiming at production of foundry grade. pig iron locally.
About IDCOL(KIW):
IDCOL (KIW) produced 100000 M.T. of foundry grade pig iron by three low shaft furnaces. Besides, it has a power generating plant of its own which supplies power to the GRIDCO, Odisha to the extent of 2.3 M.W. This industry was running with a capital investment of Rs.1,011.27 lakh in 1985. At it’s peak 1,320 workers (both skilled and unskilled) were working in the unit.
FURNACES:
M/S. Fried Crupp of West Germany having one low shaft furnace with a capacity to produce 30000 M.T. of pig iron per annum was integrated at (IKIW). It was taken over by the Industrial Development Corporation of the Government of Odisha on 01st April 1963. It included other basic blast furnaces built indigenously.
