Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.CategorizationBot (talk) 10:50, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

Could you take away this picture as it doesn't work in the Commons? I've made another one instead. --RalphEng (talk) 09:04, 13 March 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the reminder. I use to put categories at the pictures. Now some are put there. --RalphEng (talk) 11:44, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
Norrlandsblommor
[edit]Jag tog mig friheten att skapa en egen kategori för dina boksidor i Norrlandsblommor. - Hoppas det är till belåtenhet och att jag fick med allt. -- Lavallen (talk) 19:10, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
Request for deletion File:Byxorna 0001.png +++
[edit]Why? Can you please point to the duplicate files. Thanks. — billinghurst sDrewth 09:18, 19 March 2011 (UTC)
- I have tried to match them now. The black and white png-files in Category:Byxorna were used for proofreading on Swedish Wikisource but were replaced by the colour jpg:s in the same category and are not used anymore.--Thurs (talk) 15:59, 19 March 2011 (UTC)
- Lavallen and Thurs are totally right. I had bad copies for my first scannings of the book. Later I got the book scanned in colour, and the copy-copies in .png could be put away. --RalphEng (talk) 20:17, 20 March 2011 (UTC)
- I can understand that Byxorna 0001.png, could be interesting to have left, since you have an information about the first poem printed by Elias Sehlstedt, but Byxorna 0002.png could be put away, since it's just a mirror of Byxorna 0001.png. --RalphEng (talk) 21:45, 21 March 2011 (UTC)
