Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content). You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki. File:Cichla pleiozona.jpg
[edit]Hello RN1970, can you please give evidence for that?? -- User: Perhelion 15:18, 17 October 2017 (UTC)
- @Perhelion: The two look absolutely nothing alike: Different shape, different pattern, different colors. Cichla pleiozona is a standard Cichla species and Parachromis managuensis is a standard Parachromis species. The only thing that connects them is that both have been introduced to Panama where they cause a havoc among the native fish. If you are unfamiliar with the two groups, there are numerous photos of both on google image search. Otherwise you can check pp. 330–334 in Kullander & Ferreira 2006 (full ref at en:Peacock bass, which I updated earlier today -- I don't spend much time on commons, except when I notice a misidentified animal photo). - Ok thanks. The file is now renamed but still included in many articles. I mean this redirect should be deleted. Or better can you upload a valid free photo!? -- User: Perhelion 18:03, 17 October 2017 (UTC)
- When correcting ID's on commons I usually go through the pages when the file has been renamed and remove it manually. I'll do the same here. However, the problem is that a few wiki's are difficult to edit (e.g., in languages where the writing is right-to-left) and I still haven't figured out to remove files from wiki data. Anyway, I'll check it tomorrow. RN1970 (talk) 18:56, 17 October 2017 (UTC)
