I really wish you hadn't done that without discussion. "York" is a primary classification and extremely unlikely to be confused with "New York". The ships could have been dealt with by using {{Cat see also}} or {{For2}}. To be honest I'm getting somewhat fed up of clearing up well-meaning, but misguided, messes created by others here. I may not live long enough to sort out the whole of Scotland, but at least spare us the fiddling with York. Goodnight. Rodhullandemu (talk) 02:18, 13 November 2013 (UTC)
York, England has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category. In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you! |

I moved this to Category:Views from Newcastle Castle of Newcastle railway station for consistency with the parent category. -mattbuck (Talk) 21:10, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
I notice you decided to diffuse the Newcastle station category at the same time I was working on a gallery to do the same job - so I've rushed to finish it in case you find it useful, or want to suggest any changes based on what you've learned by working through the category (or already knew, for that matter), and obviously if you want to check it for errors, that would be good too. As I was rushing it's not perfect - with more time I would have tried to think of better names for the interior than Shed 1/2/3/4, for example, and a bunch of other things too, but I thought it better to finish it quickly as you were active in the same area. Obviously if you find any images that aren't categorised, feel free to add them to the gallery if you can figure out where (I compiled the list of files to work from a day or so ago, so it may already be the case it's missing any if you added some recently). redirection wheel
[edit]There's a redirection wheel in categories:
- Category:British Rail Class 158s on the Yorkshire Coast Line
- Category:British Rail Class 158s on the Hull to Scarborough Line
- Category:British Rail Class 158s on the Yorkshire Coast Line
- Category:Level crossings on the Yorkshire Coast Line
- Category:Level crossings on Hull to Scarborough Line
Which of them should be not a redirection? Yours, Wieralee (talk) 15:30, 3 June 2016 (UTC)
