Pay attention to copyright
File:Bassano Virtus.svg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.

The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.)

Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Hello, Pottercomuneo!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Serie B Maps

[edit]

Hi, don't know if you're italian or not, but I write in english just to be sure. I saw you uploaded the pics of the map with the location of the teams in the pages of Serie B 2013-2014 and 2012-2013. I uploaded the pics for previous years. I ask you: do you want me to create the pics like the old ones and upload them instead of yours or do you want to create the pics also in the next years? For me it's not a problem. Ciao! --El passs (talk) 10:05, 22 October 2013 (UTC) answer here please https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discussioni_utente:El_passs[reply]

Yes I'm italian :) I think that the answer of your question is in the will of the community: shall we ask here which of our 2 version is more suitable to the will of the community? Photo challenge translations

[edit]

Hello Pottercomuneo,
I just noticed that you translated the main page of the Photo challenges into Italian - are you interested in translating the challenge titles and descriptions etc., too? If yes, I can give you the links for the photo challenge pages that are translated into other languages.
Best wishes, --Anna reg (talk) 13:58, 5 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Pottercomuneo,
here are the links of the pages we are translating into other languages - using the LangSwitch-Template, were all languages are translated on the same page (as you'll see if you edit the pages, it looks more or less like that: - with the Italian missing, of course - hope I got it right... ;->)
those rules that don't change from challenge to challenge and therefore only have to be translated once
the voting rules
 • the challenges themselves (this month Bad weather and Household items in use, which are of course already in use - you'll have to decide if you want to do those two translations or if you'd rather start with the January themes - I'll try to have them ready for translation on December 20/21, to give us some time to do the translations before January, which includes the Watchlist messages.
Best wishes and thanks for your help, Anna reg (talk) 20:16, 7 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! And I think you are the first to immediately get the times at Template:Photo challenge rules correct! ;-> --Anna reg (talk) 11:12, 9 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Pottercomuneo,
the January themes seem to be decided... we only have one new theme - Outlier, as Bad weather & Household items in use will be continued during January.
And perhaps you can check the watchlist message for January that will be prepared in Helen's sandbox.
Best wishes and a happy new year, --Anna reg (talk) 19:49, 26 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Photo challenge - February translations

[edit]

Hello Pottercomuneo,
I just prepared the two February theme pages

and - as February has already begun and the pages are therefore already linked from the Photo challenge-main page, I put <!-- --> around every untranslated language - so if you find the time to do the translation, please don't forget to remove it!
The watchlist messages are once again in preparation in Helen's sandbox, but so far I have mainly actualized the links...

Commons:Photo challenge translation - May

[edit]

Hello Pottercomuneo,
the challenge pages for May are ready for translation:

FRacco created some translation templates for the photo challenge and formulated a Translation Plan - perhaps you could have a look (e.g. the new watchlist message is using one - the translated theme names have to be added to Template:Photo challenge theme/i18n/Mother Nature Strikes Back and Template:Photo challenge theme/i18n/Panoramas).
Best wishes and thanks for your help!

Commons:Photo challenge translation - June

[edit]

Hello Pottercomuneo,
we are really late this month (I didn't have much time), but the challenge pages for June are:

The new templates are therefore and . Oh, and the challenges are both restricted to June and 4 pictures per user - the sentence is added after the Photo challenge rules-template.
Best wishes and once again thanks for helping!

Wiki Loves Monuments ti aspetta, con centinaia di nuovi comuni fotografabili

[edit]
Concorso Wiki Loves Monuments Italia 2018 (English version)

Grazie, Nemo 16:09, 12 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Notification about possible deletion

[edit]
Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Round 1 of Picture of the Year 2023 voting is open!

[edit]
2022 Picture of the Year: Great Cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo), Little Egret (Egretta garzetta) and Gadwall (Mareca strepera) in Nepal.

Dear Wikimedian,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2023 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eighteenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2023) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and top 5% of most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 1 will end on UTC.

Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee
