[edit]I like File:Magnesium flash and pencil sharpener.JPG. dont know where it could go, though.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 06:22, 5 January 2014 (UTC)
- Because its an image of two very different objects, there are likely to not be many articles which could feature it as an image. that doesnt mean it shouldnt be here, nor that its a quality image. its educational content is along the lines of: the variety of uses that metallic substances can be put to. It could easily illustrate someones opinion piece, or even be used as an image header for some sort of tech column. its not really a criticism, as the unique juxtaposition is refreshingly different from so many obvious associations. I obviously think about this stuff way too much, but some images just catch me, and i try to understand and appreciate them. PS: certain images of people, where you have ethnicity, culture, costume, activity, location and time indicated, probably can have the most extensive categorization. we are so human centric, arent we? dont our creations deserve scrutiny as well? even the humblest objects.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 04:30, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
- I didnt notice you had an edited version of the image. well, now, of course, the two images could be used to show photoediting technique. I know literally nothing about the process of digital photoediting. if you could add info on what you did to alter this image, that would be useful. ps its also a nice image.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 04:47, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
- Aah, you took an image of distressed plastic film between polarizing filters. Did you know that corn syrup shows colors under polarization? An image of that effect would be nice on the commons. you can also create a huge variety of very beautiful subtle colors using sheets of cellophane layered up to 3-6 deep, placing the sheets at slightly different angles to each other, as the sheets have a bias, or grain, in relation to polarization. if you place them between glass discs, and turn the discs at different rates, between two sheets of polarizing filter, you get slowly changing colors (and patterns if the sheets are cut like snowflakes, etc).Mercurywoodrose (talk) 05:30, 12 January 2014 (UTC)

I started a YouTube channel on November 5th to publish a couple of videos I'd made in advance. The 15th and last of these was uploaded a couple of days ago (as of May 30th). I originally planned to create one video each week and upload them on Mondays, but the idea was soon abolished. The channel is now more of a mix of random videos than the strictly scheduled layout planned in the beginning. The videos are subjected according to my interests, which include chemistry, video making, illusions and science in general.
