File:A4P2DrGeorgeGoodfellowPC.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.) Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

- What is the date of publication of this picture? If has been publised before 1923, {{PD-US-1923}} applies here; is has been publised after 1923, but don't have a copyright notice, {{PD-US-No notice}} applies here. Also, reproductions of 2D works does not give new copyright, and therefore, this picture is very likely to be in the PD, but is important to indicate the date of creation and publication. --Amitie 10g (talk) 21:19, 28 July 2015 (UTC)

- use in any work, regardless of content
- creation of derivative works
- commercial use
- free distribution
See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons, and Commons:Image casebook for some specific examples. Some other Wikimedia projects have different licensing policies. For example, the English Wikipedia allows fair use of sounds and photographs. This is not the case on Wikimedia Commons; "fair use" materials are not acceptable here.
Please make sure that you only upload educational content you have created yourself, those which are out of copyright, or those for which you have the required permission for the work to be used in all the ways described above. Please note that derivative works of copyrighted material are also considered copyrighted. Again, please read through Commons:Licensing, which is quite crucial, to understanding how Wikimedia Commons works. Thanks for your contribution, and please do leave me a message if you have further questions. And also:

Phillips Collection
[edit]The Philips Collection as a whole may be notable enough to merit an article on its own. However this would require second and third party sources to validate the potential authenticity of the photographs. This would provide a legitimate way to include some of the images in relevant articles. But as it is now, since I can't find any reliable sources validating the potential authenticity of the images, they aren't suitable for Wikipedia. If you can provide any such sources, I encourage you to consider writing an article that documents the existence of the images and the provinence of the collection. As it is now, we can't use them unless you can show some documentary evidence that they were first published before 1923. -- btphelps (talk) (contribs) 22:22, 26 September 2015 (UTC)

Copyright tags
[edit]OSMOND_PHILLIPS, when adding images to Commons, use this copyright tag: {{PD-US}}. You need to edit the images that you've added and modify the existing tag to this tag. -- btphelps (talk) (contribs) 19:53, 2 December 2015 (UTC)
