Pronunciation files
[edit]Sorry, I should have explained this to you, but I was too busy that time.
Capitalisation is very important. Pronunciation files from Commons are used on Wiktionary. There's a bot operating here, which automatically adds pronunciation to entries on Wiktionary. Because entries on Wiktionary are case-sensitive, this bot also has to be case-sensitive and "gummibär" cannot be used when the entry on Wiktionary is named "Gummibär".
Also please be careful with category sorting.
[[Category:German pronunciation|G]]
is bad, because it causes "Gummibär" appear before eg. "Grundschule" (that's the word order in eg. encyclopaedias and dictionaries: word "G" is before word "Grundschule"). The proper category sorting is:
[[Category:German pronunciation|Gummibär]]
By the way, if you record German pronunciation, would you consider helping with wikt:de:Hilfe:Hörbeispiele/Liste? --Derbeth talk 21:19, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for clearing that up; I'm quite new to Commons. I didn't know of the importance of capitalization. The category thing was copied from another sound file, but I don't remember the name. In retrospect, of course, it makes more sense to put the whole name after the "|". D'oh. Concerning wikt:de:Hilfe:Hörbeispiele/Liste, I might give it a try, but I'm currently not involved in the Wiktionary and only record files for Wikipedia.
- BTW, how is the sound, speech and voice quality of my files? --Neg 21:39, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
I think you have very good voice. Image:De-Gummibärchen.ogg seems a little to fast pronounced for me, but generally it's ok. Also the technical quality looks very positive to me. --Derbeth talk 21:49, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
- Good. Thanks. --Neg 21:55, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Neg. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Neg~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
