Wikidata question
So the Wikidata links from Commons are not going to be one-to-one? Should we then also link the WD ID for the book in which the image was published? --EncycloPetey (talk) 16:37, 7 January 2018 (UTC)
- @EncycloPetey: "Going to be" sounds like future, but we already have over 100.000 artwork images linking to Wikidata
- Wikidata has an item for each artwork. On Commons we have one or more photos of an artwork. That can be a photo in context, photo with frame, photo without frame, a detail, etc. See for example all the photos in Category:Blossoming Almond Tree by Vincent van Gogh, these all link to d:Q1432536.
- I don't really get the book part. Where and how would you want to do that? Do you have an example? Multichill (talk) 17:06, 7 January 2018 (UTC)
- I'm talking about exactly the same image. It's a detail image that was created for a specific book on Russian art. The publication details are on the image we are discussing. Should we have both the WD ID for the artwork from which the image comes and the WD ID for the book in which the image was published? --EncycloPetey (talk) 18:10, 7 January 2018 (UTC)
- I assume you're talking about File:Repin-Ivan and Son detail.jpg. That's the source, not the topic, so no. Multichill (talk) 18:18, 7 January 2018 (UTC)

Artworks of a Wikidata item
Hi Multichill, are you aware of a possibility to list/show all images on Commons that belong to an certain Wikidata item? --Arnd (talk) 10:22, 2 October 2017 (UTC)
- The wikidata item is in the sortkey, so for example https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Category:Artworks_with_Wikidata_item&filefrom=+Q41204526#mw-category-media or https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Category:Artworks_with_Wikidata_item&filefrom=+Q167605#mw-category-media . Multichill (talk) 18:37, 2 October 2017 (UTC)
Hi Multichill, wouldn't it be good to extend the {{Artwork}} template so that a gallery of images with the same WD is added to other versions parameter? --Arnd (talk) 09:46, 11 January 2018 (UTC)
File tagging File:WellingtonBootsHouseholdCavalry.jpg
This media was probably deleted.

Thanks for uploading File:WellingtonBootsHouseholdCavalry.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:WellingtonBootsHouseholdCavalry.jpg]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

File:Starr 051224-5778 Narcissus tazetta.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

Structured Commons - Design feedback request: Multilingual Captions
Hello! You are receiving this message because you signed up for the the community focus group for Structured Data on Wikimedia Commons.
The Structured Data on Commons team has a new design feedback request up for Multilingual Captions support in the Upload Wizard. Visit the page for more information about the potential designs. Discussion and feedback is welcome there.
On a personal note, you'll see me posting many of these communications going forward for the Structured Data project, as SandraF transitions into working on the GLAM side of things for Structured Data on Commons full time. For the past six months she's been splitting time between the two roles (GLAM and Community Liaison). I'm looking forward to working with you all again. Thank you, happy editing.
