Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content). You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki. More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump. |

Thanks for uploading File:All Stars Football Club, 2013.png. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:All Stars Football Club, 2013.png]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

Please use OTRS and the Wikimedia Commons when uploading free images
[edit]You have uploaded 8 files to the English Wikipedia (log) and 2 files to the Wikimedia Commons (log). Of the 8, 5 have been deleted, one has been deleted but a file by the same name was uploaded by you to the Commons, and 1 will likely be deleted because there is no evidence that the copyright owner gave permission and it its current usage does not qualify as a "non-free" image ("non-free" images of living people are generally not allowed on pages about that individual). Of the 2 files uploaded to the Wikimedia Commons, one has been deleted and the other will likely be deleted because there is no evidence that the copyright owner gave permission to license it under a Commons-compatible "free" license.
Given your history, I would strongly urge you to restrict yourself to non-free images when uploading files to the English Wikipedia, paying very careful attention to Wikipedia's copyright-related policies and guidelines, especially en:WP:Copyright and en:WP:Non-free content criteria.
If you do upload something to the Wikimedia Commons as a "free" image and it is not blatantly obviously in the public domain, I highly recommend that you use the file's talk page to clearly demonstrate why it is in the public domain or that it has been published by the copyright owner under a free license, OR have the copyright owner "donate" the material to Wikipedia and log the donation through the OTRS system. Please see Commons:Donate to the public domain and Commons:OTRS for more information.
Important note: Even if you are the copyright holder and the instructions on the Commons say that the copyright holder does not need to use the OTRS process, because of your past record of uploading files that were later deleted I highly recommend using OTRS anyways. Using OTRS typically "bullet-proofs" your uploads on the Wikimedia Commons from deletion if the only reason for the deletion was a copyright issue. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 20:47, 19 January 2014 (UTC) Updated for the Commons.
