MAYDAY!
[edit]{{helpme|en}}
Hello helper, I'm currently writing the en:2013 Tour of California (English as you may have guessed - event in progress) and I have a hard time getting pictures, I'd like to have one for each stage, but the commons of Wikipedia only have 2 pics pertaining to that article so far. I'm don't know how commons work much, could there be pictures in there that are not categorized in the Tour_of_California_2013 category that I missed? I searched the best I can, maybe I just don't know how it works, also, all the pics on flickr seem to be off-limits for WP... I'm really trying to make a good article here (maybe not GA, but B or A, I made a C last year and I'm going in much more details and I have more references this year) and pictures would go a long way to help. Thanks in advance :) Mattaidepikiw (talk) 02:45, 18 May 2013 (UTC)
- Just had a look at "Category:Tour of California 2013". Since you posted this request for help in May there seem to be more free photographs in the category now, so perhaps you no longer need assistance with this matter. However, I generally find that it is quite difficult to ask people to specially attend an event to take free photographs and upload them to the Commons. You can try posting a request on the talk page of a relevant WikiProject (in your case, perhaps "WikiProject Cycling"), but in my experience such a message usually does not get a good response. A more effective method may be to contact users who have posted photographs on Flickr and request that they change the licences on specific photographs to CC-BY-2.0 or CC-BY-SA-2.0. You can find a message template for this purpose at "Wikipedia:Example requests for permission#Short Flickr image request". Hope this helps. — SMUconlaw (talk) 10:58, 10 November 2013 (UTC)

Files from flickr
[edit]Hello. Had to tag some of your uploads for Copyright violations. When you upload files from Flickr please:
- Add link to Flickr page in "source", as I did here
- Check if the licensed file is suitable for Wikipedia. You can read more about that here: Commons:Questionable Flickr images
- Upload highest resolution available
Thank you and don't worry about your mistakes. Dudek1337 (talk) 23:12, 2 June 2015 (UTC)
