User talk:M.Hugo Windisch-Graetz
Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content). You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki. More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump. |

Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.CategorizationBot (talk) 10:48, 20 September 2010 (UTC)

Your recent uploads
[edit]Dear Hugo of Windisch-Graetz, thank you for uploading images from your private collection. Please note though historical images like File:BOGENSBERG.jpg are certainly not your own work but have an original author. For copyright reasons you cannot license such files claiming to be the author but you should name the original author if possible and then apply PD-art if the creator died more than 70 years ago.
If you don't know the original creator please try to date the image to a specific period that shows how copyright resctrictions have expired. Otherwise I am afraid we cannot accept images that are unlikely to be your own work. Regards, De728631 (talk) 20:38, 19 March 2011 (UTC)
File:Slatenegg.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

We confirm that all the informations which have been introduced in to Wikimedia Commons page user are historically and presently correct with reference to the public editions of the German Gotha and the Italian Libro d'Oro della Nobiltà Italiana. The introductions in to Wikimedia are only inserted for historical correct use of the WINDISCH-GRATEZ FAMILY NAME AND HISTORY. We will be please to give further detailed informations in support. - Sorry, but I don’t understand what point[s] you are trying to make. Would you mind finding a friend who can translate that into understandable English? (You could ask for help at Commons:Bar italiano.) By the way, is that ‘We’ a ‘royal we’? Alternatively, simply write in Italian: plenty of people here will understand you.
- And would you mind also clarifying the doubt as to whether you are in fact the same person as the subject of this article on the English language Wikipedia? That article states that he has a 1975 degree in economics and political science from the University College of Buckingham. It seems hard to believe that anybody with your limited grasp of the English language could have a degree from an English university college. Can you provide evidence that you are who you say you are? (Otherwise we can only treat you as an anon who has selected, say, ‘Queen of Sheba’ as an amusing username.) [edit]Hi, if you think you own the copyright to the image,[1] can you please e-mail a letter confirming this to an OTRS volunteer? Thanks a lot. --Eleassar (t/p) 11:59, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
