[edit]Hi, OOps. Sorry about the misunderstanding on photos. The file: File:Patrick Leigh Fermor with George Doundoulakis, North Bellmore, NY, 1982.jpg should be put in under the photo wizard? I don't know how to do it. Can you show me the link? Cheers, Bigeez (talk) 23:34, 12 November 2018 (UTC)
- @Bigeez: If you're browsing Commons in the desktop version, the Upload Wizard is on the left menu where it says "Upload file". But first you should read Commons:Licensing. You can't upload images as "courtesy of museum X". You (or rather whoever has the right to license the images) need to either send proof of the license via Commons:OTRS, or if it's possible, the museum's website could have both the image AND the license next to it, so that the license can be verified. All your remaining uploads look problematic to me and they might get deleted. I found one the images online: [1]. However, the information says "Current copyright status is undetermined". Therefore we would need proof that the image has the right kind of permission to be here on Commons. -kyykaarme (talk) 21:03, 14 November 2018 (UTC)

[edit]- I understand your desire to protect the rights of Latvian authors. Protect these sculptors from infringement of copyrights. The Latvian Copyright Law (2000) also contributes to this. http://www.gencs.eu/uploads/european_patent_trademark_registration/latvia/Copyright%20Law%20Latvia.pdf
- This "Law" (2000) permits the publication of photographs of monuments located on squares and city streets.
- This “Law” (2000), where a special place is devoted to monumental art and architectural objects, was created to popularize authors, protect their name and disseminate knowledge about the culture and art of Latvia.
- I well understand that reading (too verbose) legislative acts of other states is time-consuming, therefore I am sending two quotes from the Latvian Copyright Law (2000):
- Section 19. Use of a Work of an Author without the Consent of the Author and without Remuneration
- (1) Copyright shall not be considered infringed if a work of an author is used without the consent of the author and without remuneration pursuant to the procedures specified by this Law:
- 1) a work is used for informational purposes taking into account the provisions of Section 20 of this Law;
- 2) a work is used for educational and research purposes taking into account the provisions of Section 21 of this Law; (...etc.)
- (1) Copyright shall not be considered infringed if a work of an author is used without the consent of the author and without remuneration pursuant to the procedures specified by this Law:
- Section 25. Use of a Work on Public Display
- (1) It is permitted to use images of works of architecture, photography, visual arts, design, as well as of applied arts, permanently displayed in public places, for personal use and as information in news broadcasts or reports of current events, or include in works for non-commercial purposes. (... etc. in subsequent Sections ...)
- This Law protects the rights of authors and promotes the free flow of information. Therefore, the so-called Freedom of Panorama is not relevant for Latvia.
