File tagging File:Falklands-humor.jpg
[edit]This media was probably deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:Falklands-humor.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded (:File:Falklands-humor.jpg ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.CategorizationBot (talk) 10:39, 13 October 2010 (UTC)

[edit]Hi, Is there any chance we can get an update to this file? File talk:MSJ.en.svg I think it's an excellent graphic to help explain the accident but some people had an issue with the location of the explosion symbols. Is there a chance you will be able to update it for us? I really appreciate it. Thank you very much. Veriss1 (talk) 00:03, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

--Createaccount 10:37, 18 December 2011 (UTC)

Saludos. Jorge Barrios (talk) 18:41, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
- Hola Jorge,
- Por favor da una mirada a este diff: borro "Men of Chile" (no dice nada sobre el personaje ademas de que es chileno y hombre) y agrego Category:Journalists from Chile, Category:Intendentes y gobernadores regionales of Chile, Category:Educators from Chile, Category:Deputies of Chile, Category:Ministers of Finance of Chile.
--Createaccount 09:12, 3 May 2012 (UTC)

I do not understand exactly what I should do. Please tell me what I should do. I did not replace the original SVG image, because I do not have an SVG editor. So the best solution would be if you can make my map into an SVG image, and replace the original map with it. If that is not possible, what do I need to do with my PNG image to make you happy?

By the way, if you google for a file named 002103212323.kmz and download it, and you get the free program Google Earth and install it you can doubleclick on the file 002103212323.kmz and that starts the program Google Earth and you are placed in the valley de las lagrimas and you can look around and move around. There is a marker on the edge of the west mountain wall which shows you where Parrado and Canessa moved into the next valley. I used this program to walk the same way they took to the place where they met the huaso who got them help. I did this yesterday and it was very interesting, but it took me one hour to walk the same way as they did in 10 days. Roger491127 (talk) 01:09, 10 July 2012 (UTC)
After 5 hours work with installing Inkscape, and learn how to use it, and I needed to use another browser to upload the image, I think I have succeeded. The "derivative works uploader" did not seem to work so I used "Upload a new version of this file" on the page http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Volcan-tinguiririca.svg. instead. Send me a message if there is still something I should do. I added the categories which I think was the mistake you pointed out.
I have tested both the wiki pages mentioned in the image page description, and the English page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uruguayan_Air_Force_Flight_571 and the new picture is there in all wiki pages.Roger491127 (talk) 06:59, 10 July 2012 (UTC)

- Hi! Thx for the corrections above. I removed my "no-source"-template from all files above. Hint: Try to upload from Flickr the maximum available resolution. See Commons:Flickr files#Uploading images ("Guidelines") for details. Regarding your comment at Commons:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by Createaccount (comparism between PD-AR-Photo and files from Bundesarchiv): Please read Commons:Bundesarchiv to understand the difference (especially the bold line). Additionally you must understand the whole spectrum behind "Wikimedia Commons only accepts media (...) that are in the public domain in at least the United States and in the source country of the work" (COM:L), reading (e.g.) COM:URAA + en:Wikipedia:Non-U.S. copyrights + Commons:Deletion requests/PD-AR-Photo de la Guerra de Malvinas 2 (a similar deletion request). Summarizing: At URAA-date 01.01.1996 all nominated files (different copyright owners) were still copyrighted in Argentina... Gunnex (talk) 21:52, 20 August 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Gunnex,
- What I see is an an striking contradiction between the deal with Germany and Argentina. They say Wikimedia Germany and the Federal Archives have signed a cooperation agreement that, among other things, asserts that the Federal Archives owns sufficient rights to be able to grant this kind of license.
- My question is, if the Federal Archives have assert it why can't the Argentine Republic?.
- What is doing Commons now?: "The little are hanged and the bigger run away".
- Anyway, I am not lawyer and I won't continue the discussion.

Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded (:File:Exterior con nieve liviana.JPG ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

File tagging File:Portal liviana.JPG
[edit]File:Portal liviana.JPG which you uploaded has been tagged with OTRS pending for more than 30 days. This tag indicates that an email setting out permission to use the file was sent to the Volunteer Response Team. Unfortunately, we cannot find any record that such an email has been received, and accordingly the file remains without permission. Unless the Volunteer Response Team receives evidence that permission has been granted within 15 days of today's date, the file will be deleted. If you have already sent the permission, please re-send it to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org now. Please quote the file name ("File:Portal liviana.JPG") in your email. At the same time, please leave a message at the VRT noticeboard so that a volunteer can follow this up or contact a VRT member directly.

Copyright status: File:Åkleby.jpg
[edit]This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:Åkleby.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with GFDL to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with PD-self to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |
