Question about De minimis

[edit]

Hello Josve05a!

Hope your winter holidays are going well.

I just had a question about the recent deletion requests you've concluded (the heinz bottle and fanta), and was wondering if you could tell me if there was any large differences from the two cases vs Commons:Deletion requests/File:Fanta grape 325ml can-front PNr°0882.jpg. I am having trouble distinguishing which DM files should be kept vs deleted.

Rest assured I'm not challenging your decision but just want to learn more about DM ! I'd say I'm a new user here (or maybe less experienced) and at the same time and any guidance would help me settle down!

Sorry for taking your time, and happy new years! Takipoint123 (💬) 08:26, 29 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah...that is a bad closure you linked. I've re-nominated that for deletion disocussion. --Jonatan Svensson Glad (talk) 09:53, 29 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ets-Hokin v. Skyy Spirits, Inc.

[edit]

Hi, You deleted 2 files (1, 2) which maybe shouldn't have been deleted. I have opened a discussion about these on COM:VPC#Ets-Hokin v. Skyy Spirits, Inc.. Are you aware of this ruling? Best, and Happy New Year! Yann (talk) 09:51, 29 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Was in a bit of a hurry, and missed your salutations and greetings. I wish you the same as well, of course! :) --Jonatan Svensson Glad (talk) 11:24, 29 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

(Vandalism???) I noticed that KRD deleted the Logo of the Islamic Army in Iraq

[edit]

I noticed this on List of wars involving the United States. On Wikipedia.

It says that: Removing Logo_of_the_Islamic_Army_In_Iraq.svg; it has been deleted from Commons by Krd because: No permission since 23 December 2024.

A few things here. Last time I checked the logo for a now defunct terrorist group is automatically considered public domain. It would be similar for groups like Al-Qaeda and ISIS. Can anyone confirm? Also I checked Krd and it redirects to wiki commons https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Krd/gallery2025&action=edit&redlink=1 The link says that " If this page used to exist, it may have been deleted. Check for Krd/gallery2025 in the logs and/or in deletion requests.: So assuming that KRD no longer exists I am wondering if we are enchanting a case of Wikipedia Vandalism here. If so how do we confirm? Can we reverse the deletion of the Logo? Is not I have actually saved it and can restore it. But how do we prevent it from happening again or ask someone higher up to help us investigate? Thank you. (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 17:44, 1 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The file was deleted by Krd following 7 days without anyone addressing sourcing issues on the file description page. --Jonatan Svensson Glad (talk) 00:09, 2 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Does that mean that there was no source proving the logo belonged to the Islamic Army in Iraq? Aren't you the original one who uploaded the file? I will double check, but in my research that's what I think the files indicate. And which is why I am contacting you, to see if you know what happened?
Also why does KRD no longer exist on wikipedia? Before his personal page disappeared his post seemed to indicate that he removed the logo, because there was no permission given. Are you saying that this is not to do with copyright/public domain, but something else entirely? Thank you. (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 00:32, 2 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Krd is still active and a admin here. Not sure why you think he's "gone"? He has a red link on his user page to a non-existing gallery, but that's by-the-by.
I have nothing to do with this file...it was uploaded by Aldanimarki. I have no idea how I've been involved ith this file or why you may think so. --Jonatan Svensson Glad (talk) 01:13, 2 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Oh I see. Do you know how I can contact Krd and/or Aldanimarki? Thank you. (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 01:22, 2 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You can find their talk pages here: User talk:Krd, and User talk:Aldanimarki. --Jonatan Svensson Glad (talk) 11:16, 2 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
