File:Slender ringtail.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

- I am looking into this.
- It appears that the publication that held these images, copyright 1994, was scanned and digitised by UIUC at Illinois, held by BHL (Biodiversity Heritage Library), with a note to say that it is in copyright, and archived by Internet Archive, then uploaded to flickr saying that it is in the public domain. From flickr it was copied to Wikimedia Commons, by me (John Tann).
- This is from BHL:
- Book Title
- Catalogue of the family-group, genus-group and species-group names of the Odonata of the world
- By
- Bridges, Charles A.
- Publication Details
- Urbana, Ill, Charles A. Bridges, 1994
- DOI
- https://doi.org/10.5962/bhl.title.15291
- Holding Institution
- University Library, University of Illinois Urbana Champaign
- Sponsor
- University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
- Copyright & Usage
- Copyright Status:
- In copyright. Digitized with permission granted by April K. Walsh, executor of the Charles A. Bridges estate. Contact dcc@library.uiuc.edu for more information.
- So, it looks like there are copyright restrictions on the book. The images in the book have been taken from earlier literature (but not so old to be out of copyright, I think).
- I am in favour of deletion. The images are not crucial for the Wikipedia pages where they have been used.
