Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 05:59, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

File:ConvSclaraEspadña.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.) Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Lo mismo puedo decir de File:Monum.Colon3.jpg, File:FuentePinete.JPG, File:Ptoribera1.jpg, File:Vista moguer2.jpg y File:Ptoribera2.jpg. Por favor, no subas fotos sin el permiso de su autor.--V.Riullop (talk) 16:10, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
Hi Jmfd,
could you please comment at COM:AN/U to the allegations of copyvios against you. --Túrelio (talk) 06:35, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
Blocked
[edit]You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for persistently uploading media that is in violation of Commons' licensing policy, despite our warnings not to do so, and despite our instructions. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may add your reason here below this message explaining clearly why you should be unblocked. See block log.

It is a bit concerning, that after all this the user still uploads copyright violations abusing multiple accounts. --Martin H. (talk) 03:30, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
Banned
[edit]This user is banned from Wikimedia Commons. After the discussion on COM:AN and his apology to the the photographer he had stolen from he within a short time repeated his bad behaviour with sockpuppets. At the moment he is creating tons of new sockpuppet accounts. Two points here:
- Someone who tries to correct his bad behaviour will not create such sockpuppet accounts. We must assume bad intentions, a different judgement is not possible.
- I spent much time on this case initially and roled out my findings in User:Martin H./Jmfd which is visible for admins here. The findings lead - besids the cases we already knew from an photographers complaint - to the conclusion, that Jmfd uploads a mixture of liekly self-created photographs and stolen ones. This pattern/mixture continues also with his new sockpuppet accounts, taking all those sockpuppets together it becomes obvious. So nothing changed! Also he abuses external plattforms to launder his "haul" he grabbed from other websites.
The conclusion is simple: Jmfds uploads are not accepted here no matter how likely this is own work or not. I dont made the work to separate his positive contributions from his bad uploads just to find this person doing the same with now >40 sockpuppet accounts, and I will not do this work again. That behaviour is simply too stupid and bad intentioned to give any chance in future - this user is banned. --Martin H. (talk) 00:24, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
And Jmfd just closed the last door to rebuild trust. With User:LeonFelixGH he manipulated the EXIF of his uploads, all photos that sockpuppet uploaded have been taken at 18:43, 6 January 2011.... thats impossible given the various subjects of the photographs. In the past I argued with the EXIF (see User:Martin H./Jmfd) to trust in some of Jmfd's uploads. This uploads have been deleted later by some other administrator, regretably. But hoewever, with LeonFelixGH Jmfd has now doubtlessly proven that he is not interested in rebuild trust, he only follows criminal intention. This guy is a shame for this projects and probably the worst person I ever met here. --Martin H. (talk) 14:44, 24 July 2011 (UTC)
File source is not properly indicated: File:13 fama.jpg
[edit]This media was probably deleted. |
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:13 fama.jpg, was missing information about where it comes from or who created it, which is needed to verify its copyright status. The file probably has been deleted. If you've got all required information, request undeletion providing this information and the link to the concerned file (
:File:13 fama.jpg ).
If you created the content yourself, enter If someone else created the content, or if it is based on someone else's work, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you! |

Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Jmfd. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Jmfd~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
