Welcome to Wikimedia Commons. I moved Jackverr to User:Jackverr. Generally, User pages have "User:" prefix. I hope this move will not be a problem. Have a nice time! Kwj2772 (msg) 11:50, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 05:59, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

File:MarcMorialNatUrbanLeage.jpg
[edit]Hi. Regarding category addition to File:MarcMorialNatUrbanLeage.jpg, what is the relevence to Alpha Phi Alpha of this particular event Morial appeared at? Thanks, wondering. Cheers, Infrogmation (talk) 00:30, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
Hello, sorry for not having told you that I added a category to this photo.
It's not because of the event, but of the person : Marc Morial is an Alpha Phi Alpha member.
I am translating this article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpha_Phi_Alpha into french language
http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpha_Phi_Alpha)
and I thought it was a good idea to put in this category all the photos I used from The Commons.
I hope it doesn't bother you. Regards.

- I see, thanks. In this type of case, the Alpha Phi Alpha category should be added to Category:Marc Morial, not to an individual image. I'll take care of this one for you. Cheers, Infrogmation (talk) 14:16, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
I'll know it for the next time.Thank you. --Jackverr (talk) 16:33, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
