Thank you for your contributions. Your image or other content was recently deleted, or will soon be deleted, in accordance with our process and policies, because it was not, or is not, within our scope. Please review our project scope, but in short, Commons is targeted at educational media files including photographs, diagrams, animations, music, spoken text and video clips. The expression “educational” is to be understood according to its broad meaning of “providing knowledge; instructional or informative”. Wikimedia Commons does not contain text articles like encyclopedia articles, textbooks, news, word definitions and such. Each of these other kinds of content have their own projects: Wikipedia, Wikibooks, Wikisource, Wikinews, Wiktionary and Wikiquote. If the content seems to fit the scope of one of those other projects, please consider contributing it there. Otherwise, consider an alternative outlet. If you think that the deletion was in error because the contribution really was in scope, you can appeal it at Commons:Undeletion requests, giving a reason why it fits our scope to help others evaluate the matter. Thank you for your understanding.

Hello, Jackie ohlsen!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Hi Jackie ohlsen,
thanks for uploading reproductions/photo of paintings by Jackie Ohlsen. As Mrs. Ohlsen seems to be a professional artist and likely still holds copyright in all her paintings and photos thereof, you do need written permission for uploading these images under a free license to Commons. In case you are Mrs. Jackie Ohlsen by yourself, sorry for this inconvenience, but as all images on Commons are not only for use on Wikimedia projects, but for everybody else, we need to ensure our re-users that they can legally use these photo without fear of litigation; this is a standard procedure. To provide permission, please go to Commons:Email templates, take the permission template, add the filenames of all photos covered by this permission, add a license of choice (out of those permitted on Commons), mail it to the artist and ask her to put the date and her name under it and mail it back to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org from an email account clearly associated with the artist. Thank you. --Túrelio (talk) 09:03, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I AM the professional Artist Jackie Ohlsen and these are MY paintings...

[edit]

hi.... this site is unbelievably complicated sometimes, especially if you are new to it. I have forgotton to give my permission on The Road Back Home and am TRYING to figure out how to give it. I realise you must protect people here, but it is so hard to find ways to fix things that I, myself have done, as well. Also...it is hard to figure out how to reply to people if you have made an error, which, in turn, causes you to keep compounding it and adding more errors. My original proplem was that, SOMEHOW, I added a parking lot photo link to my "mct.JPG" upload and in attempting to correct it, I have made a huge mess of my ENTIRE gallery and my legitamacy as Jackie Ohlsen as well. Could you not put a "Correct Error" spot where the user enters a password to fix their entries so it is not so unbelievably confusing? I am an intelligent, educated woman with a reasonably good I.Q. and have reverted to feeling mentally challenged. HELP ME!!!!! Thanks I need yet another tranquillizer (small joke) oh yes... I AM JACKIE OHLSEN the professional artist.--Jackie ohlsen (talk) 09:37, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

@Jackie, as Herby had no objection, I restored your userpage. Try to re-design it by yourself; remember any edit/change can be reverted or un-done; play with it. Don't make the content too promotional, as this may invite deletion request. --Túrelio (talk) 14:08, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, welcome back ;-) As you may have seen I've "corrected" the categories for File:Enthralled.jpg. Category names on Wikimedia projects are case sensitive. For example, Portrait painters is not the same as Portrait Painters. The latter cat does not exist. --Túrelio (talk) 14:20, 31 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, as you might have noticed, I created a special category for you. That should make things easier. You might appreciate that Commons is a media server for wikipedia's, so in contrast with wikipedia's, we like a minimum of text and a maximum of media and especially resolution and quality. Enjoy. --Foroa (talk) 13:54, 4 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jackie, what in the world has happened? --Túrelio (talk)

Welcome back

[edit]

Hi Jackie, happy to see you back. Please note that commons does not use a "tagging" category system as you seem to think, but categories that contain other categories and files. If you click on the blue category:Jackie Ohlsen on the bottom of your files, you will see that you fall in a category from which you can navigate through clicking on the categories on the bottom and walk through the whole commons category system (we have 700 000 categories by now). Once you understand that, you will realise that many of the categories in your files are redundant with the higher level category:Jackie Ohlsen. Enjoy. --Foroa (talk) 13:26, 23 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

I must have misunderstood the info that came today from BotMultichill. Thanks for your help...Still totally freaked out and paranoid.--Jackie ohlsen (talk) 15:17, 23 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Another comment: the higher the resolution the images are, the better we like it. You can reload higher resolution images over the older lower resolution images. The server scales dynamically to the right resolution in function of the requester's need. We have no categories for freaked outs nor for paranoids, so you better take care of your self ... --Foroa (talk) 15:46, 23 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
