ESC 2024 map

[edit]

Hi there! Saw you were editing File:ESC 2024 Map.svg. May I ask if you could update Czechia? I would do that myself but I’m unable. Thanks in advance! IvanScrooge98 (talk) 14:25, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Autopatrol given

[edit]

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. Abzeronow (talk) 17:04, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:EuroLuxembourg2.svg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. File:Trans pride flag Serbia basic.png has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Eurovision Young Musicians maps

[edit]

Hello, I saw you edited the Eurovision Young Musicians all cities map. Can you please update the Eurovision Young Musicians 1998 map? See discussion page of this article for the changes and the source. Can you update the Eurovision Young Musicians winners map as well as Austria won a 6th time?

Thank you! Ezeltje1598 (talk) 12:55, 31 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

ESC 2025 Map

[edit]

The selection for Cyprus is official: here the official statement from EBU. The song title is yet to be decided, but the artist has been officially confirmed and he's listed on Eurovision official site. As in the past years, the map is updated along with the completion of the representatives. Superspritz (talk) 17:31, 15 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

We reached a new consensus, so we are not including selected artists on the map until the list of all countries is out ImStevan (talk) 17:35, 15 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I was not aware of this. Could you please extend me the link to the discussion?--Superspritz (talk) 22:02, 15 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
en:Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Eurovision/Archive_30#Colors_on_the_map ImStevan (talk) 22:20, 15 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I read the discussion, but I found nowhere the statement that "selected artists are not included on the map until the list of all countries is out". The only statement I could find related to the "full list completion" is the following one: "there is no need for the additional colour for countries who have confirmed their non-participation before the full list of participants is announced". Also on the captions of the agreed color scheme it is explicitly stated:
What the map could look like before the list of participants
  • (Blue:) Finalists that have selected their entrant/song
  • (Green:) Semi-finalists that have selected their entrant/song
  • (Purple:) Countries that haven't selected their entrant/song
  • (Light yellow:) Countries that competed in the past and will not in 202x
So, if I put pieces together and read the discussion, it's not stated in any point that the green color for semi-finalists that have selected their entrant/song shall not be used until the full list is completed. On the contrary, the caption on the summary color schemes suggests the opposite (as I did on my upload, and as it happened in 2024 as well, by the way). The only statement linked to the full list completion is just about "participants / non-participants". Is there any further discussion stating that blue and green colours shall not be used until the full list is complete? --Superspritz (talk) 15:36, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I cannot go through the entire discussion right now, I will look into it, but I think the point was that it would "advance" the map too far and create a feeling that the map of participants has been finalized already, with purple being confirmed countries that haven't selected their artist, green being semi-finalists that have selected, and blue being finalists that have selected. This way, it's clear that this is only a map of countries that have confirmed so far, not the full line-up ImStevan (talk) 16:33, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
OK, but please take into account that this conclusion is not clear at all. By the way, just for the sake of the curiosity, why some conventions that are inherently cross-wiki (considering that ESC map is used widely in many different language projects) is decided by a single linguistic project (en.wiki) and not in a more "universal" context such as Commons? Bottom line, the maps are eventually uploaded here, and it would make more sense discussing that here. Otherwise, only users active on en.wiki could take a position, here you may have contributions from people coming from far more many different wikis. Is that just for historical reasons? --Superspritz (talk) 17:57, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
