You are receiving this message because we noticed that you voted in Round 1 of the 2022 Picture of the Year contest, but not yet in the second round. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2022) to produce a single Picture of the Year.
Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.
In this second and final round, you may vote for a maximum of three images. The image with the most votes will become the Picture of the Year 2022.
Round 2 will end at UTC.

Dear uploader of European Science Photo Competition 2015 and Wiki Science Competition 2017, Wiki Science Competition 2019 and Wiki Science Competition 2021, we would like to remind you that Wiki Science Competition 2023 has started in almost all the countries.
If you want to take part in WSC2023, please consult this page. Only some national categories are associated to competitions with local prizes.
If you are an expert user, we remind you that images uploaded within the deadline can be included in any case in their national category even if not uploaded with the main interface.
If you already took part in a country that has completed its upload phase (such as Russia), please consider improving the description in English of your files (click on the edit button), since such description is what the international jury will use to evaluate them. World finalists will be finalized after March 2024.

- Hallo Christian, danke Dir für den Hinweis! Du wirst es nicht glauben, aber das sind die ersten Fotos, die ich jemals mit dem Wikidaheimbaustein hochgeladen habe und da sind mir prompt Fehler bei der Kategorisierung passiert. Ich habe alle Fotos nun so einsortiert, daß zumindest die Kategorie Missing or unknown topic wieder leer ist. Hello Granada!
It's been a while since we last met here on Commons. I was very happy to see you making a nom at FPC (you are braver than me) with what that forum is these days, but it was nice just to see that you are still active in the community.
Even if I'm not nominating anything at FPC anymore, I'm one of the people who help with maintenance and keeping the FP-related pages in some sort of order. I noticed that you removed the FP assessment from your photo of the Vienna State Opera photo. May I please ask why you did that? Just as promoting photos to FPs is a community decision, so is removing (delisting) that assessment also made through a community vote. I will be more than happy to help you sort out the "legalese" if there is a problem with that photo for you. All the best, --Cart (talk) 10:35, 13 August 2024 (UTC)
- Hello Cart,
- I did not nominate any photo for at least a year and I should have sticked to that. I felt so deeply depressed about the comments on my latest FPC that I was in the mood to remove all FP assessements of my photos. If it was possible I would have deleted my account. I'm photographing sports for other people acknowledging my work. --Granada (talk) 10:48, 13 August 2024 (UTC)
- I'm so sorry to hear about that. Yes, I agree that the FPC is in worse shape than ever when it comes to politeness and real photography critique. The now too "normal" internet ways of writing comments without thinking has infiltrated that forum too, and many skilled photographers have left because of it. Too many people with no understanding with how photography really works, are now commenting and voting. I too am now just uploading my photos here and helping with maintenance, my real photography communities are on other sites.
- However, the Opera photo is really beautiful and it was evaluated when FPC was still working as photography site, so I think you can feel proud about that. As I mentioned earlier, individuals (not even the author) can't remove the FP status from a photo. I would rather that you yourself reverted the things you removed, since I do not like to add burden to the way you feel about FPs. Sadly you are not alone, other photographers with real experiences of being in that profession have felt and done the same thing as you with their FPs. But the only other option open to you on an individual level, is to request a courtesy deletion of the photo. I would regret if you made this with to your great photo, but it can be done.
- My advice would be be that you reinstate the photo's FP tags (just the "assessment", the "Featured pictures by User:Granada" is not necessary, I fully understand if you want to have that category removed) and put the past to rest. FPC was nice once and we had some great times there, but those days are gone. Better to just move forward, perhaps make some good photos for articles and seek out new good photography sites in the future. --Cart (talk) 11:25, 13 August 2024 (UTC)

I am usually active on the FPC site, but was on vacation and not following during your recent nomination. Please remember: the users active on FPC are a very small group - many, many more people value what you are doing here highly! I hope to see more wonderful images uploaded by you in the future! - Hallo Granada, es tut mir so leid, dass Dich die Kommentare zu Deiner letzten Nominierung so verletzt haben. Ich erinnere mich, dass Deine früheren, praktisch durchgängig großartigen Nominierungen von Sportfotos häufig völlig unsachlich, unqualifiziert und herablassend kommentiert wurden. Der Ton auf der FPC-Seite ist oft gründlich daneben und ich kenne inzwischen eine ganze Reihe sehr guter Fotograf:innen, die ihre Bilder nicht mehr (oder nur nach langem Zögern) nominieren, weil sie keine Lust auf dumme und verletzende Kritik haben. Zusammen mit ein paar Mitstreiter:innen bemühe ich mich seit Jahren, den Ton auf der FPC-Seite sachlicher und freundlicher zu gestalten, aber unser Erfolg ist leider begrenzt.
- Du bist eine unserer besten Fotograf:innen, ganz besonders im Sportbereich, wo Du zu den wenigen gehörst, die Fotos auf professionellem Niveau beitragen. Dafür möchte ich Dir ganz herzlich danken! Du kannst Dir sicher sein, dass ganz viele Menschen, die in irgendeiner Weise an Wiki-Projekten mitarbeiten oder auch nur die Wikipedia-Artikel zu Sportlern lesen, Deine Fotos wirklich begeistert zu schätzen wissen. Leider sagen die Leute das nur selten, seufz … und daher bekommen die lauten Stimmen der paar Idioten und Misanthropen eine so verheerende deprimierende Wirkung.
- Ich verstehe gut, wenn Du Deine Zeit nicht länger mit Leuten verschwenden willst, die Deine Arbeit nicht zu schätzen wissen … Aber ich möchte Dir doch sagen, dass viele Menschen das wirklich herzlich bedauern und Deine hervorragenden Aufnahmen vermissen werden.
