User talk:Gelo71
Hi - thanks for contributing to the commons. However, there are a few problems with Image:285px-FernsehturmTaschkent.jpg (see the description page there). Generally, when copying material from a wikipedia, keep the following things in mind:
- Always copy all information provided with the image, including who uploaded it.
- Make sure the license info is complete (author, source, etc) and that it conforms to the commons licensing requirements (not fair use, etc)
- Make sure you copy the full resolution image, not a scaled version. Note that images on the description page may be scaled too, in that case there's an extra link to the full version below the image.
Note that images that have been copied to the commons are often deleted from the original wiki. Because of this, it is very important to copy all information and the full resolution image, otherwise material may be lost or the license can no longer be verified. Thank you!
Please also have a look at Commons:Licensing and Commons:Criteria for inclusion. If you have questions, ask at the Commons:Village pump.-- Duesentrieb 15:38, 28 May 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for responging. I belive this image is OK, but the license info in the german WP is incomplete: the info given with an image should always be sufficient to verify the license status; Information about source and author are important, "aus dem Fotoalbum" is a little imprecise. For PD images, the rationale for the PD claim should be given, i.e. old, government work, released explicitely, etc. I hope the uploader will clarify this - I have asked him on the talk page, but maybe you want to write him an email?
Generally, the license info must always be complete and verifiable. Images that just have a PD sticker without a way to check that are not acceptable. Sorry to be picky, and thanks again for contributing -- Duesentrieb 17:28, 28 May 2005 (UTC)
In reply to your questions:
I am thinking of uploading some pictures I took myself while travelling last year. When I upload such pictures, is it enough to say "Picture taken by me" followed by a PD template? Or is any extra information required?
- With regards to licenses, the statement "Picture taken by me" plus a license tag like PD-self, GFDL-self or such is enough. But images should contain some more info - for that it would be best to use Template:Information (look at the talk page there for more).
- The description page shuld contain info like what the image shows, when and where it was taken, etc. Also, images should always be put into categories and/or gallery pages with regards to the questions "what?" and maybe "where?" (some entry point to the category structure are on the Main Page). This way, the images can be found and used by others.
I was wondering if this Chinese copyright criterion is acceptable in Commons.
- If the image is legally PD, it is acceptable to the commons. So, if a picture was created and published in china, and the chinese law says it is PD now, then the image is OK. Maybe we should have a Template:PD-China for that (maybe we do somewhere?)
- If you are sure about the PD-rules of china, please add them to Commons:Licensing#Country-Specific Laws for future reference - that list is sadly incomplete until now. Thanks! -- Duesentrieb 18:37, 28 May 2005 (UTC)
Image deletion warning | Image:285px-FernsehturmTaschkent.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file. |

I have drawn the first R.O.C. Flag (1912-1928) in SVG format, and I am going to use my SVG image to replace your PNG file. If you have any thoughts on it, feel free to drop a note on Commons:Deletion requests or tell me. :) --Kibinsky 18:12, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
Captura de pantalla
[edit]Saludos AngelRiesgo;

Image Tagging Image:Hu4.jpg
[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:Hu4.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{Cc-by-sa-2.5}} to release it under the Creative Commons or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Gelo71. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Gelo71~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell

File tagging File:Mwai Kibaki.jpg
[edit]This media was probably deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:Mwai Kibaki.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Mwai Kibaki.jpg]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

File source is not properly indicated: File:Dohaqataraerial.jpg
[edit]This media was probably deleted. |
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Dohaqataraerial.jpg, was missing information about where it comes from or who created it, which is needed to verify its copyright status. The file probably has been deleted. If you've got all required information, request undeletion providing this information and the link to the concerned file (
[[:File:Dohaqataraerial.jpg]] ).
If you created the content yourself, enter If someone else created the content, or if it is based on someone else's work, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you! |
