Could you please take a look
Hey FunkMonk,
I remember that you have some experience dealing with self made drawings off dinosauria. Could you please take a look at File:Betasuchus by jonagold2000-d9vf4gw.png and nominate the file for deletion if it's inaccurate? I'm asking this because this uploader tried to include this image in the Dutch Wikipedia and some other wiki's. Thanks in advance! Natuur12 (talk) 15:36, 30 January 2018 (UTC)
- It looks anatomically ok to me (the animal isn't known by much, so can only compare to other abelisaurs, which it is thought to be), but I've added it to a discussion at the dinosaur image review page:[1] FunkMonk (talk) 16:01, 30 January 2018 (UTC)
Problem med renaming
Hej FunkMonk.
Man går vel næppe ind i substansen?
-- Mvh PHansen (talk) 09:38, 7 February 2018 (UTC) (da:Bruger:PHansen)
FunkMonk (talk) 10:19, 7 February 2018 (UTC)
OK. Tak for et hurtigt svar. -- PHansen (talk) 16:14, 7 February 2018 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Live captive Carolina parakeet.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

Argentinosaurus silhouette
Please have a look at what I did with File:Argentinosaurus size with raised neck.png (now renamed) while removing your no-permission tag. I believe the uploader made a good-faith effort to resolve the problem, and given the PD-self source I think the CC0 licence can stand. Is that OK with you?—Odysseus1479 (talk) 01:22, 27 March 2018 (UTC)
- Yes, the problem was that the uploads used copyrighted art as basis, so if it call can be replaced, that would be fine. FunkMonk (talk) 07:10, 27 March 2018 (UTC)
- Perhaps just delete the original version with the copyright violation? IJReid (talk) 19:33, 14 April 2018 (UTC)

Gastornis + Leptictidium
Hi. A lot of scientific restitutions are shown in a lot of different sites, all inspired by each other. And basically, by the illustrations of the scientific articles describing fossils. We are not in the field of artistic creation but in that of scientific compilation, as when our texts quote our sources in the articles. But do what you mean right. --Spiridon Ion Cepleanu (talk) 11:00, 27 November 2018 (UTC)

Problemer med at oprette underkategori
Hej FunkMonk
Mvh.PHE77 (talk) 17:22, 11 September 2018 (UTC)
Mvh. PHE77 (talk) 17:36, 11 September 2018 (UTC)
- Cool, bliver spændende at se! FunkMonk (talk) 17:41, 11 September 2018 (UTC)
FunkMonk (talk) 21:39, 11 September 2018 (UTC)

Tail position and pronated hands--Bubblesorg (talk) 19:53, 18 September 2018 (UTC)
- The hands are not pronated, one arm is mlifted so that the palm faces down, and the other hand is folded down, like those of a bird. As for the tail, dromaeosaur tails were stiff, but not inflexible.[4] FunkMonk (talk) 00:16, 19 September 2018 (UTC)

New uploads
Is there a way to have this post-1923 photograph uploaded as fair use by any chance? If so, could you guide through the process?
I also wanted to make sure that I got this one right, so I'd appreciate it if you could take a look. Fitzcarmalan (talk) 21:26, 10 November 2018 (UTC)
- The 1914 image should be fine, as for the 1957 image, perhaps something like the tag I used here[5] could work? You can check if the copyright of a US publication was renewed here:[6] FunkMonk (talk) 23:16, 10 November 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you for that second link. It works for academic papers too, right? Fitzcarmalan (talk) 11:03, 11 November 2018 (UTC)
- I'm pretty sure I've seen some academic papers there (in any case, seems their copyright was rarely renwed). This link for periodicals might also be of help:[7] FunkMonk (talk) 11:33, 11 November 2018 (UTC)
- Turns out the 1957 photo from the link I gave you was nowhere to be found on this Archive.org version of the Quarterly covering the volume and article in question (p. 79-82). I just looked it up to find more information for the file's description (date on which the photo was taken, etc), but it simply wasn't there. Is that an obstacle or should I now assume that the ucpress.edu link was a different "edition" of this publication and then upload it anyway?
- I also had this photo in mind (redirects to the Online Archive of California), but the description in the 'Rights Information' section below drew me away from it. Fitzcarmalan (talk) 13:10, 11 November 2018 (UTC)
- Hmmm, that does seem pretty strange. Might be iffy to upload it on an assumption. Are there other copies of the source online that could be checked? Sometimes images accompanying an article in a journal is placed way in the back of the issue as a plate... You might have to go for fair use instead, then. As for the other image, it also seems a bit iffy, since there is no original publication mentioned, it seems? FunkMonk (talk) 14:35, 11 November 2018 (UTC)
- Looked through the entire Archive.org document and I still couldn't find it. The other image can also be found here in the article's preface (no page number) and the caption says that it was taken in 1951. But it's cropped and the quality is much lower than the OAC one. Fitzcarmalan (talk) 19:09, 11 November 2018 (UTC)
- As long as you show a link in the file source description to where it was first published, even if in lower quality, it should be fine. But yeah, the other image seems a strange case. FunkMonk (talk) 19:33, 11 November 2018 (UTC)
- Looks good? Fitzcarmalan (talk) 22:14, 11 November 2018 (UTC)
- I think so, yeah. FunkMonk (talk) 02:47, 12 November 2018 (UTC)
