User talk:Folini
Hiho Folini again :-)
Do you already know the useful gallery tool by Duesentrieb? It displays a nice overview and several more helpful information for sorting and reviewing your images (usage, license, categorization). Greetings --Überraschungsbilder 14:30, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
Why did you upload another image with the same name?? Did you know that you don't have to delete an image before you upload another one over it? Just upload the new image with the same name, and you will get a warning message, so click "upload anyway" and then you're done. pfctdayelise (translate?) 09:56, 2 March 2006 (UTC)
- That's OK. I agree that the documentation here is not very good. It's a slow process... pfctdayelise (translate?) 00:24, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
- OK, unfortunately if it's a different file type, you can't upload it over the top. It has to be separate. Then, it's appropriate to request speedy deletion for the old one.
- As for how long speedy deletion takes, it just depends on when an admin looks at CAT:CSD and decides to delete some files. I have been looking at it the last couple of weeks. If a case is not clear-cut, probably it will take longer. So marking your image as clearly as possible (e.g. include a link to the new file, so the admin can check) may help it get deleted slightly faster.
- Also, posting on an admin's talk page can get files deleted quite quickly too. ;) pfctdayelise (translate?) 06:35, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
- Just to be totally clear: To request speedy deletion, mark your bad image Bad name, better file at :Image:Foo.jpg. ~~~~ And if the file is in any gallery pages on Commons, remove it (there's a list under "File links" at the bottom of the image description page). pfctdayelise (translate?) 06:38, 3 March 2006 (UTC)

Ciao, --Mac9 16:57, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 13:15, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

So they are living in the North Sea (and so), too? :-) Maybe you can change the red line into some color overlay above the countries?--Mideal (talk) 00:17, 13 October 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for your photo!
[edit]Hello!
My name is Laurie and I'm the Project Manager for na2ure, an NYC-based startup toy company. We featured this photo of yours in our upcoming app, and wanted to thank you for your lovely photo. Thank you!
na2ure is all about designing science play. We developed a game-changing platform called ferret that classifies ecological data into an intuitive network that can be easily learned through play. The high end value of our work attracted STEM>STEAM icon John Maeda, as well as the VCs behind LittleBits, Sphero, Makerbot, and Shapeways. The science has been vetted by MD's and PhD's, tested by kids, and praised by educators as appealing to all ages.
None of this would have been possible without your work. Thank you.
The app is available on the iOS platform and will be released to the public soon. Be sure to follow us on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/Anigramit) and Twitter (@anigramit) for a quick, easy way to share the news with your social media network -- and to keep up to date on all the great stuff we’re doing.
Again, thank you! Laurie Vazquez Project Manager, na2ure manager@na2ure.com
PS - I tried to Wiki Mail you , but was unsuccessful -- hence my note here :)
