Don't upload (C) images

[edit]

Please do not reupload the same image that we've removed twice before: File:HyraWikipedia.jpg & File:Hyra2.jpg. Please read COM:L before making more uploads. Thanks! Ellin Beltz (talk) 16:39, 4 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Ellin Beltz: Why didn't I get a message or anything before the photo was deleted? I own the photo and mentioned this at the time of upload. Originally it had been uploaded by a third party but it was recommended that the owner upload it directly which is what I had done. I can try a different photo if that will help.Fizencor (talk) 21:12, 4 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I have no idea why the automated messages don't post to your page, sorry. I do know that this image was nominated and the file template shows you as uploader.

That is why I cautioned you to please not reupload it again, as we've had to take it down two times now. You said in your email that you had the subject upload that, I am sorry but I don't see that on the upload template. And even so, the subject doesn't own the picture - the photographer does. Please read COM:L when you get a chance and before making more uploads. That an election is today, tomorrow or next month has no effect on "please don't upload copyright violations." Thanks! @Ellin Beltz: I don't really get what you are saying. I am a copyright lawyer, and the subject of this photograph, and the owner of the photograph, by agreement of the photographer, so there is no copyright violation, I guarantee you. The first time the file was uploaded, it was by someone besides me. I don't know who it was. It got taken down and I believe I saw on a talk page a suggestion that the owner of the photograph should upload it, so I did. Then it was taken down again, with no attempt to contact me and no explanation. Hence I uploaded it again with a request not to take it down without contacting me because I own the photo. That was ignored. I see no reason why I should not upload photographs of myself that I own? I'm sure you are just trying to follow the rules but I hope you can understand why I am frustrated with the situation. It doesn't seem reasonable that it should be so difficult for the owner of a photograph, and no one is challenging that I am the owner or questioning my rights to the photo, which by the way I have shared many other places including with the AP, to upload that photograph to a Wikipedia page. If it comes down to it, I can have my wife create an account and upload a photo of me that she took, but I fear that would result in a ban for sock puppetry, the photo taken down for no apparent reason, etc.? Any way you can help with this or no? Do you think it is safe for me to upload another picture? I am not going to upload anything I do not own.Fizencor (talk) 03:39, 5 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I totally understand it. The situation is this: Your account is anonymous. We removed the image as a copyright violation the first time, but we don't know who controls your anonymous account. Therefore, please send the simple email to COM:OTRS where trusted volunteers will review and resolve. If images were removed in the interim, they will be restored at this point. Or you can upload a selfie. Does that help? Ellin Beltz (talk) 07:48, 5 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
