My Grievances with Beyond My Ken & Disappointment with HJ Mitchell
[edit]For Reference:
Beyond My Ken wanted me perma-banned on enwiki, so HJ helped him do so by making sure only arbcomm could unban me, even though any objective observer would realize Beyond My Ken has abused editing relating to Cooper Union over and over and over. WP:Owner in particular is in play there as he has made 281 edits at Cooper Union, deleting alumni he personally judged non notable on the article for 6 years as well as faculty names. Worse yet his 108 edits at Cooper Union financial crisis and tuition protests mostly serve to undo the good faith edits made (with 272 other edits). There he was even more fiesty, edit warring with Haricots Vertz, KarinaJean, Vivalawahrheit, 108.46.137.69, Kleo 101, 67.84.204.32, a particularly vicious one with 68.193.109.240, before I stumbled upon him edit warring with jm3. I found jm3's edits to make far more sense than Beyond My Ken's. I had previously added links with admin pov to the article, which helped make the article more neutral according to all editors. Based on the talk page to that article, clear plans to include additional admin points of view were shot down because "your opinions, your analyses, and your interpretations (or anyone else's, for that matter) will not be allowed into this article" unless Beyond My Ken gives his approval (again problematic considering en:WP:OWNER issues). Yet HJ's action made it more difficult for me to get unbanned to continue making constructive edits, while Beyond My Ken continues to contradict himself. That Beyond My Ken helped cover for HJ Mitchell only hurt HJ. Ferociouslettuce (talk) 20:36, 20 March 2016 (UTC)
Personal attacks
[edit]Dear Ferociouslettuce, this is your last and only warning that personal attacks are not tolerated here, especially ones where you compare people to Nazis. Also please have a look at Commons:Welcome. This site is not for fighting out disputes you have on other wiki's. If you continue with that instead of doing useful contributions, you might find yourself blocked. This is the Commons equivalent of en:WP:NOTHERE. I sincerely hope you just had a false start here and becoming a valued community member. Multichill (talk) 11:11, 20 March 2016 (UTC)
- User:Multichill, I apologize that my comment indicating that Goebbels' tactic of accusing people of being the thing that they themselves are was taken to be a personal attack. I was flustered when I was accused of doing many things I did not do & was even told: Were I you, I'd slink away back to whatever hole you came from before making any such statement. I have studied the German language intensely & even though I am jewish, I have tremendous respect for the tactics Goebbels employed as they are still used today quite often. You reference personal attacks in the plural sense. Aside from the statement I now regret making directed at User:Beyond My Ken, is there any other statement I made that was considered to be a personal attack? Ferociouslettuce (talk) 18:54, 20 March 2016 (UTC)
- Further, while I recognize the wikis were not set up such that I should be discussing <enwiki> using this platform, after many emails to arbcomm and after having been banned for 6 months without access even to my own talk page for reasons still unclear to me, where can I discuss these issues? Is there a place I can go to request access to my own talk page on <enwiki>? Or should I begin posting on <dewiki>? Ferociouslettuce (talk) 18:54, 20 March 2016 (UTC)
Your block on enwiki
[edit]I'm sorry to hear you haven't hear back from ArbCom. The reason that you can't edit your talk page and have to appeal by email is that it's very difficult to discuss the reasons for the block without discussing personal information. This is standard practice when somebody is blocked in relation to something that's been oversighted. I'd offer to discuss it with you personally but in about two hours I'm off to start another week of night shifts and I'm unlikely to be immediately available until the weekend. My suggestion would be to contact the functionaries' mailing list (functionaries-en at lists.wikimedia.org) and make your case there. It might take a day or so before your email gets through moderation, and I honestly don't know how much success you'll have after that, but that list is a bit quieter than ArbCom's, so there's less chance of something being buried among all the other traffic. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 20:11, 20 March 2016 (UTC)
- I can wait for about a week to get back in touch, but why was I oversighted to begin with? Going to send that func email, but honestly not holding my breath considering public discussions are normally more fruitful. Your continued advisement will be much appreciated. Ferociouslettuce (talk) 20:42, 20 March 2016 (UTC)
- Feel free to cc me—hjmwiki at gmail.com—and I'll look when I can. I'll have to refresh my memory of what actually happened because six months is a long time, but if the issues are resolved and aren't likely to recur, then unblocking you is not an unrealistic proposition. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 20:58, 20 March 2016 (UTC)
- I can't speak for others (fellow user Beyond My Ken recently told me: "Were I you, I'd slink away back to whatever hole you came from"), but I will definitely not commit any personal attacks and, now that I am aware of the strict WP:OUTING policy, will definitely not do so again in the future. I found an old ymail address for you that I forwarded correspondences to but also forwarded my email to FUNC to the gmail address you provided above. Again good luck adjusting to your new shift schedule. I'm optimistic we can continue to be cordial and work out past differences Ferociouslettuce (talk) 21:06, 20 March 2016 (UTC)
- Hey - still no news from FUNC.. Can I have access to my own talk page on enwiki? It's been over 6 months so I'd like advice on how to proceed (also wrote on your talk page - don't care which we talk on). Ferociouslettuce (talk) 01:56, 27 March 2016 (UTC)
- I've been following the discussion on the functionaries' list and there's a pretty clear consensus among those who have commented that unblocking you at the present moment is unwise. Nonetheless, the issues preventing your unblock are not insurmountable if you want to return to enwiki to do something not related to BMK or the Cooper Union financial crisis and tuition protests article. The discussion revolved around two main issues: the first is that you have acknowledged that what you did was against policy, but you don't seem to understand why outing is such a fundamental issue (ie because of the chilling effect it has on the editor who is outed), and thus we're not assured that you wouldn't do it a gain in some other dispute down the road; the second is that you appear to be holding on to a grudge against Beyond My Ken, which is what got you into trouble in the first place (yes, the reverse is also true). My suggestion would be to completely disengage with BMK and forget about him, find something constructive to do here on Commons, and then look at revisiting your enwiki block in three months or so. I appreciate that it's not what you want to hear, but the response was considerably more receptive than it has been to other recent block appeals. Please don't ping me again
[edit]You keep pinging me all over this wiki, Please stop and do not ping me again. You are boring, and not worth my time or energy. Beyond My Ken (talk) 04:55, 21 March 2016 (UTC)
- Not pinging you here again. Please realize en:WP:OWNER issues and cease editing en:Cooper Union financial crisis and tuition protests for the reasons listed above. Ferociouslettuce (talk) 20:11, 21 March 2016 (UTC)
- No, your reasons are invalid. Beyond My Ken (talk) 00:43, 22 March 2016 (UTC)
- It is not even debatable you've made 1/3 of the total edits and the vast majority are contradicting edits made by nearly a dozen others. Ferociouslettuce (talk) 02:09, 22 March 2016 (UTC)
Contributions to Wikimedia Commons
[edit]Hi, in case you may not be aware, I just wanted to let you know that you mustn't make postings on Commons such as this and several earlier postings that could be construed as an attempt to evade your block on enW. You are welcome to edit in connection with purely Commons-related matters, but cross-wiki harassment or evasion of a block made elsewhere may result in a block here. Cross-wiki evasion, to my mind, includes using Commons as a soapbox to argue about a Wikipedia block, or using Commons as a way of getting to otherwise-unavailable Wikipedia editors by posting messages on their Commons user page regarding matters that are of no relevance to the work of Wikimedia Commons. I'm aware that you have been getting replies here from some users including HJ Mitchell and GorillaWarfare, which should not have happened, but in any event if you want to contact an enW admin, please do so through some other channel than Wikimedia Commons. We can't help deal with any problems you may have on enW. Many thanks. --MichaelMaggs (talk) 14:59, 3 May 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Michael. Thanks for discussion. I understand everything must be handled through there and have emailed & attempted to gain access to my talk page over there several times. I will email again at the end of the month. Ferociouslettuce (talk) 00:07, 4 May 2016 (UTC)
- For what it's worth, I'll restore your talk page access on enwiki. There'll be some conditions attached, but I'll post those there. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 20:05, 8 May 2016 (UTC)
