You can leave messages for me here, but you will probably get a faster response if you leave me a message on my talk page at the English Wikipedia. --Fastfission 16:16, 18 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Compared with your stated source http://www.nukestrat.com/us/afn/Minuteman.pdf you moved the deployment of chaff to after mid-phase. Do you have a reference for that? It does not seem to make sense.--Patrick (talk) 00:15, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I based that image on page 14 of the PDF (page 10 by its internal numbering)—I don't have the chaff being deployed any earlier than it does. I don't presume to be an expert on this stuff. --Fastfission (talk) 22:16, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Since the mid-phase is drawn only small in the diagrams, there seems little difference, but the PDF shows chaff being deployed at least before halfway, while your diagram shows it after halfway, and it could even be interpreted as being at the end of the mid-phase.--Patrick (talk) 22:49, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Is it my imagination or does your image of this show missiles being launched from either Africa or India and landing in Australia? --BenM (talk) 18:08, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The file number you provided does not bring up any results; at least some meta-data should be brought up, no? What lab is responsible for creating this image? When was it created? Under what license? Knowing at least what lab created the image will tell us if it is actually PD or at all free use; being created under a DOE-funded contract and posted to one of their websites is not sufficient. Alternatively, you can provide the email correspondence you mention on the file talk page. --Mav (talk) 18:58, 11 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for providing the info needed to find meta data on the image on the source website. That image description page now has all the info that was previously lacking. --Mav (talk) 02:49, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Question

[edit]

I was wondering if you could tell me how to get that grey-white checkerboard behind images so that the white backround doesn't show up on the image. Ktr101 (talk) 16:30, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The "white background" is just another image. It can be deleted in graphics programs like paint.net and Photoshop by selecting any part of the white background, then either pressing "Delete" on the keyboard or selecting the "Erase" command within the graphics program. This is useful for capturing parts of a diagram appearing against a white background for cutting and pasting into other works. Vfrickey (talk) 07:49, 21 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Fastfission~commonswiki!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Please help replace this outdated license

[edit]

Hello!

Thank you for donating images to the Wikimedia Commons. You have uploaded some images in the past with the license PD. While this was a license acceptable in the early days of Wikimedia, since January 2006, this license has been deprecated and since October 2008 no new uploads with this license was allowed.

The license on older images should be replaced with a better and more specific license/permissions and you can help by checking the images and adding PD-self if you are the author or one of the other templates that you can see in the template on the image page.

Thank you for your help. If you need help feel free to ask at Commons talk:Licensing or contact User:Zscout370.

The images we would like you to check are:

NTS Barrage Balloon.jpg

[edit]

This file, which you uploaded is incorrectly title. It shows a Goodyear ZSG-3 Blimp, not a barrage balloon, which is something completely different.Petebutt (talk) 14:29, 17 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well, whichever. In any case, note that you replaced a high-res 3.45 MB file with a low-res 31KB file when you tried to make the change yourself. Be more careful. An incorrect title is no big deal compared to a file severely reduced in resolution. --Fastfission (talk) 15:16, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Permission to use figure in a book.

[edit]

Dear Fastfission~commonswiki,

I am working with Prof. Steven LaValle to help obtain permissions for borrowing figures or pictures in his upcoming book Virtual Reality, to be published by Cambridge University Press. The book is online here:

http://vr.cs.uiuc.edu/

We are hoping to include the picture of yours:

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/45/Duck-Rabbit_illusion.jpg

in this book (Chapter 6, Figure 6.26b). Could we please have your permission for this? Thank you.

Sincerely,
