Masson has emailed me about the deleted image: Commons:Deletion requests/Image:Jeffrey M Masson.jpg. He wrote:

Any ideas how to help him with his photo?

THanks. I agree it is a copyvio based on your evidence. However, I uploaded it good faith from a Flickr claim to a CC release. So, no need to shout at me, I did nothing wrong.--Scott MacDonald 18:38, 29 April 2011 (UTC)

Actually, it isn't a copyvio. [1] If you look at your source, it also references the flickr uploader. So looks legitimate CC.--Scott MacDonald 18:54, 29 April 2011 (UTC)

I saw your most recent comment, this may respond to it as well.

The partnership between Flickr and Getty is to allow Flickr users to partner with Getty themselves and license their images through Getty. AFAIK it doesn't work the other way around and given that Getty makes their money through image licensing, even of what we consider public domain photos, I seriously doubt that they would release anything, especially of an event like this, as a free use license at all.

What happened in this case is that a 3rd party took Getty produced images and flickrwashed them into a CC license. It doesn't change the fact that Getty owns the copyright and in the absence of proof to the contrary, we have to presume that they are fair use images and can't be hosted here. OK. You seem to know what you are talking about, and I'm fairly convinced. Can you speedy the article I uploaded if I'm not contesting it. I've removed it (and the one someone else uploaded) from Wikipedia.--Scott MacDonald 19:07, 29 April 2011 (UTC)

Hello, I deleted the picture since it was a Getty image. I also cleaned the articles that used the picture. Thanks to all for the support.
