First steps tutorial

Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content).

You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks
  • Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
  • You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
  • To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
  • You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
  • There are several tools to upload files.
  • Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.
Made a mistake?
  • Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.
  • Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Löschung von Lichess_new_logo.png: OK. Bitte Lichess_Logo_Since_2019.svg behalten

Hallo,

Ich habe von einem Automaten eine Nachricht bekommen, dass https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Deletion_requests/File:Lichess_new_logo.png gelöscht wurde. Ich habe dieses PNG, glaube ich, nicht hochgeladen, aber https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Datei:Lichess_Logo_Since_2019.svg habe ich hochgeladen. Das, weil auf verschiedenen Wikipedias nach wie vor das alte Logo ( https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Lichess_Logo.svg ) angezeigt wurde und teilweise noch wird. Ich habe auf den entsprechenden Lemma-Diskussiosseiten Nachrichten hinterlassen. Das von mir hochgeladene Logo ist seit 2019 offizielles Logo. Wenn das neue Logo überall eingebunden wurde, kann das alte Logo ( Lichess_Logo.svg ) gelöscht werden.

@Heronils: Auch wenn du das neue Lichess-Logo unter der Bedingung "Only use to refer to lichess.org" legal benutzen darfst, kann es trotzdem nicht auf Commons hochgeladen werden. Commons akzeptiert nur Dateien, die unter einer freien Lizenz stehen. Aus diesem Grund wurde auch schon File:Lichess new logo.png gelöscht. Deine Datei wurde zur Schnelllöschung vorgeschlagen, weil die Löschung des neuen Lichess-Logos ja schon diskutiert wurde und sich seitdem nichts geändert hat. —Dexxor (talk) 19:08, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Der Quelltext von Lichess steht unter der GNU Affero General Public License, das Logo aber nicht (siehe COPYING.md). Das Microsoft-Logo besteht nur aus vier Quadraten und erfüllt daher nicht die Schöpfungshöhe. —Dexxor (talk) 05:00, 20 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]


Änderung von Mailbox Logo.svg - Markenrechte betroffen

@Dexxor: Wir benötigen eine geänderte Version auf https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Mailbox.org_logo.svg, da das "m" aus markenrechtlichen Gründen nicht mehr verwendet werden darf. Können wir uns per Mail absprechen, dass Du eine neue Logo-Datei einspielst und/oder die Pflege dieser Datei allgemein in meine Hände kommt? Aktuell darf ich sie nicht einfach überschreiben.
