[edit]Hi DT,
I see that you have taken some wonderful images, but some of them are lacking image description. Please make it a point to include image description, preferably using the template below. This will help others understand what the image is about. -Ambuj Saxena (talk) 17:26, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

Image Tagging Image:Hoshangtomb.jpg
[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:Hoshangtomb.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use cc-by-sa-2.5 to release it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license or PD-self to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Your images - please respond
[edit]People are trying to get your image deleted here. This was an image you uploaded. Can you make sure that the image stays, or a similiar one is found? It looked good in the article Islam and Animals. --Matt57 20:30, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

i think you should edit the picture again because i can see some errors. it may seem like a small matter and yes it is but i am not taking it personally really. But it could be better if you put the Philippines on the map in color light-blue, whereas East Timor can be a part of the Indosphere too. I see you didn't have to include Indonesian Guinea (Irian Jaya) too but other parts of Indonesia (specifically the easternmost ones) aren't even part of the Indosphere. Well you may or may not do what i want you to do and honestly i won't take it personally when you won't do my request. Thank you.
Image:Vegmark.PNG
[edit]Hi, thanks for uploading Image:Vegmark.PNG. Recently someone brought up a concern on en:Talk:Vegetarianism#Image Issue about the color of the non-vegetarian symbol. Apparently the correct color is brown, not red. Would you be able to change it? If not, I will create a new image that would be similar, but not a derivative of yours (the licenses for your image have a bunch of requirements for making derivative works, so I'd rather just make it from scratch). Also, if you could respond on en:User talk:kotra instead of here, I would appreciate it (I rarely check the Commons). Thank you! -Kotra 21:00, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
- Since you haven't responded yet, I went ahead and made a new image (Image:India vegetarian labels.svg), and replaced yours with it on the English Wikipedia. Please let me know if you have any comments. I would prefer your feedback before I change it on the other language Wikipedias, just in case I've made a mistake. All I know is the Indian legislation in 2001, I don't live in India so I can't verify the color myself. Thanks! -Kotra 20:43, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 05:48, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
