WMAM photos

[edit]

Thanks for uploading event photos on Commons, even though I guess most of them were originally only shot for posting in the social media. It's easy for such photos to get lost, while having them on Commons produces valuable documentation. --Nemo 11:24, 18 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

File:Animation films Edit-a-thon's statistics, Wikimedia Armenia.png has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Armenian sign language and SignIt ?

[edit]
See also Lingua Libre/SignIt

Hello @Dato (WMAM), @DSaroyan, @Sigma'am, @MariamKarapetyan49, @Emptyfear.
(cc: @Xavier Cailleau WMFr, @Rémy Gerbet WMFr.)

Lingua Libre SignIt for Firefox, next version also supporting Chrome/Chomium/Edge. Works on 700+ French words as of 2024. Adding Armenian Sign Language is possible.

I just noticed your Category:Videos of Armenian Sign Language with 1200+ high quality signed videos. I would like to lead your attention toward Wikimedia France's web extension Lingua Libre/SignIt which could valorize your signed language dataset and for which I'm the volunteer facilitator.

There is currently a waiting Github ticket (#104) to add more sign languages to SignIt, including Armenian Sign Language and your videos into SignIt. I will first do my best to coordinate this ticket as volunteer with junior volunteer developers (see #104). But those developers are unknown to me so I cannot be sure of the associated timeline (if ever). Also, would WMAM like to support SignIt and to ensure SignIt rapid improvement toward Armenian sign language ? In that case, I would like to recommend micro-freelancing Kabir, a young CS student and the most qualified SignIt developer at the moment to rapidly add Armenian Sign Languages support and your videos to SignIt.

In any case, let's keep in touch on this SignIt + Armenian Sign Language thread. Yug (talk) 22:17, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello all,
There are the news on this front. I confirmed with the junior developers there is an estimated 6 days of coding work left to finish SignIt and add Armenian sign language videos to it. We therefore estimated the project necessary budget to 1200$. I would add volunteer work (about 3~5 workdays) to make this project happen.
Wikimedia France confirmed no decision could be done on their side for next 6 months. Then it's not secured either.
Given the low budget, short workspan needed, I would like to move faster. Are there any avenue to fund a quick, 6 days, 1200$ coding freelance ? Yug (talk) 11:21, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
