Image Tagging Image:Sigma pwm.png
[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:Sigma pwm.png. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. - My bad: I forgot the licence tags... This is corrected now. I removed the no-licence tag from the page. CyrilB 07:45, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

Dinosaur images
[edit]thankyou for submiting my images. the image of the Gastonia as well as all dinosaurs i have made are done in the computer using photoshop and a wacom tablet. literaly i draw them in the computer. as for the shadow, the image was done from abegining with a half shadow. that is becouse if done complete someone would have come and croped it. i already had some complains in shadows, excesive edges and similar here on commons. i will when i can, (maybe sometime next week) remove the shadow completly. as for the SVG diagrams. there is a problem about them, in order for it to show itself you nee to change the size of the thumb in some pixels. so that it is shown.. thankyou anyway for the submission. Image:WalkAmidMaples2.jpg
[edit]Thank you for commenting on Image:WalkAmidMaples2.jpg. Based on your evaluation, I have cleaned up the noise problems in the file.
Even with 10,000 edits on the English and Japanese Wikipedias and Commons, I'm afraid I have no idea how to edit the Quality Images Candidates page to add a comment to alert viewers to the change.
Best regards,
- Good work! The quality image candidates page is something new, and we still have to find how to handle specific cases like this one (when an image is changed. I think the simplest solution is for me to change my edit concerning your image. CyrilB 09:23, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

LSESU Green Party
[edit]I am astounded that this file has been deleted! It is not a copyright 'violation' in any sense as the image is not copyrighted! Rather than deleting it, I would have appreciated some guidance, as someone new to Wikipedia, on how to make this acceptable. This is a photograph made by a good friend, who sent the image to me to be used in election material (distributed throughout London and the LSE campus) for the Green Party at the LSE and who is fine with having it used on Wikipedia and reused by anyway. Please tell me what else I need to make this acceptable...FISHERAD 18:00, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

Re: Quality images promotion
[edit]Hi. Thanks for kind words. I recognize the possibility of consensual review and didn't intend to move the pictures before 2 days passed from review. According to the guidelines, grace period is 2 days (48 hours), and the last picture I moved was reviewed at 29 Sep, 13:57 by Gnangarra [1], which means that 48-hour period had passed (admittedly only less than hour, but still). Or maybe different time zones have some meaning here, what should be taken into consideration. Anyway, believe me that I wanted to do everything according to rules. Pko 17:25, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
- Yes you're right, I added this picture to Quality pictures, and I've done this only by mistake. I must admit, that the process of executing the decision in case of QI is a little bit complicated. I removed the picture from COM:QI. Pko 18:22, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
Thesis Writing
[edit]Ahoy, I'm writing an honours thesis which includes a lot of stuff on MOSFETs, I was hoping to use a few of your images in this document. But I'm having trouble with licences. Should I just draw my own or is there a workaround? Frontier
POTY election implementation
[edit]Some help in needed to organize the POTY election. Please check the conclusions of the discussion in Commons talk:Featured picture candidates. What do you think of doing the election in the period 15-31 January? - Alvesgaspar 14:56, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
SVG image problems?
[edit]First of all I want to thank you for your illustrations. It is good that you have made and published technical illustrations. Especially the ones concerning electrical converters.
During the use of an illustration, I found an error when rescaling it. The problem might be due to:
- Plug-in/browser problems (on both Mac and Windows)
- Image parts with wrong svg-definitions
Commons scaling? It should not be a commons scaling problem, because it is a SVG file - SVG; Scalable Vector Graphics.
I have tried:
- Firefox 3.0.11 Windows XP and MacOS X 10.4.11
- Mozilla 1.1.17 MacOS X 10.4.11
The raw illustration (good):
- File:Boost_chronogram.svg (commons)
The used illustration (at least "D.T" and two times "Off" are moved to the left side of the illustration):

Buck-Converter
[edit]Hi, i would like to know which tool you use to create the very nice electrical schematics like File:Buck_conventions.svg --Nuke160 (talk) 14:43, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
- It is a bit late, but most of my drawings (all the vector ones anyway) are made using openoffice draw. This might not be the best tool for the job, but it is definitely the one I know best. If you need the source files, please ask (it might be wise to do it via email at cyril DOT buttay AT free DOT fr, as I read this page about once a year...) as I wasn't able to put odg files on commons. Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called CyrilB. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name CyrilB~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
