File:Mette Hønningen in Kopenhagen (1965), Dreharbeiten für 'Ballerina'-crop.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Is deletion suggested because it is cropped from a photo I initially uploaded? If so, I do not think that deletion is required. I do not mind if there is a cropped version of my photo. Creco (talk) 13:06, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No, the subject's son doesn't think it's her. Also, you forgot to ping me.   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 13:22, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Jeff G.: I see - thanks for letting me know.
The documents we have from Bernhard Reicherts who worked with her suggested that it is indeed her. However, trusting her son's judgement and since I will need some time to verify this, I would be happy to remove the image for now. Creco (talk) 14:05, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, Creco, for commenting on this. I'm afraid I've caused considerable confusion as on the basis of a request I received, I mistakenly assumed I had uploaded the file myself. In fact, all I did was to create a cropped version. I now see it was you who uploaded the original file. From discussions elsewhere on the cropped version, I don't think it is possible to have it deleted. Apologies for any trouble I have caused. Thanks also to Jeff G. for looking into things so carefully.--Ipigott (talk) 05:39, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Creco: The file has now been renamed because of the dispute. I did my best to describe the situation of this photo at File:Bernhard Reicherts und unbekannte ballerina in Kopenhagen (1965), Dreharbeiten für "Ballerina".jpg#Disputed identity, but some of what you wrote above is a bit ambiguous and I may have misunderstood. Please feel free to make corrections there if I have mis-paraphrased you, and feel free either to duplicate any such changes at File:Unbkannte ballerina in Kopenhagen (1965), Dreharbeiten für 'Ballerina'-crop.jpg or to leave me to do that, I'll be watching the pages. Thanks in advance. - Jmabel ! talk 00:15, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

And thank you for your ongoing help here. - Jmabel ! talk 00:16, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Jmabel @Ipigott: Thank you for doing this and apologies for any ambiguity! What I wanted to say:
In 2016, when we went through the documents which we have inherited from Bernhard Reicherts (including the photo in question) to create his Wikipedia article we concluded from them that this is Mette Hønningen. However, I can still remember that we could not be entirely sure based on the Bernhard's documents and notes related to the production of Ballerina. In retrospect, we should have stated that there was some uncertainty at our end regarding Mette Hønningen's identity, and I apologise for all the discussions and confusion this might have caused. Therefore, after also having had a look at some of the discussions on the cropped photo I am more than happy for the community to decide how to proceed with the cropped version and to update the title of the original uncropped version as you already did. The only person on the (uncropped version of the picture) that we can identify for sure is Bernhard Reicherts and we also know that he was involved in the sound recording and mixing for Ballerina (as he was a family member).
Finally, what I wanted to suggest is that I will see if I can find any further information on who the ballerina in the picture might be, based on the inherited documents. However, I will only have access to the documents again in a few weeks. Hence, it might take some time until there is an update on this. Thank you all for your efforts and careful investigations! @Jmabel@Ipigott
I finally managed to take another look at Bernhard Reicherts’ album. Unfortunately, I could not find further evidence on who the ballerina could be. Apologies again for the likely misinterpretation of the information Bernhard Reicherts shared with us and any wrong conclusions I might have come to based on it.
