Overcategorization
[edit]Hi, you have been overcategorizing the images you have uploaded - please read and understand the following policy article: Commons:Categories.PeterWD (talk) 23:08, 28 May 2016 (UTC)
- Hello again. I appreciate your efforts to correctly categorize the images. However, I hope that you will study further the principal of hierarchy, and how categories work here at Commons. I have reinstated and created a new Category:Slovak Insurgent Air Force for the B-534, that itself has two provisional parent categories. For other images, you are continuing to add unnecessary categories, such as for the Il-28 image, because the Category:Ilyushin Il-28 is already a sub-category of Bomber aircraft of the Soviet Union. For some other images, categories can be reinstated, for example the image Vought F4U-1A Corsair.jpg can be correctly given the categories VMF-214, Pacific War in 1943, Gregory "Pappy" Boyington, and F4U-1 Corsair, because they are all independently relevant for this image. I recommend that you study categories applied to existing images, and follow the links for each category in turn. That will hopefully show you how the categories link images together via other categories, and thereby minimize the number of images in each category. Best wishes, PeterWD (talk) 09:49, 29 May 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you for your explanation. I´ve studied Commons:Categories, but something wasn´t clear. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cizek Martin (talk • contribs) 12:13, 29 May 2016 (UTC)
- I have now created some new sub-categories below Category:Ilyushin Il-28 that help to more accurately categorize your Il-28 image. Please note our conventions on talk pages such as this, where ":" indents text, and your contribution should end by typing the four tilde characters so that readers can see who wrote the text (a robot made the correction above). At any time, you can select "Show preview" below, to preview the final format.PeterWD (talk) 14:43, 29 May 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you for sub-categories. I allways use "Show preview". Hopefully, my answer is correct now.-) Cizek Martin
Hi, I just noticed that your nice drawing of Lt. Muri's B-26 has the wrong serial number (40-1436 indstead of 40-1391). There is a drawing here [1] and more about the aircraft here [2]. By the way, normally the serial number was painted on the tail. Cheers Cobatfor (talk) 07:26, 27 February 2017 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for information. I drew this B-26 for the article by M. Šnajdr in 2013. He sent me some photos and drawings, what the airplane should have appear, even with the serial number 01436 on the fuselage. It should have been an exception. Neverthenless You might be right. Spitfire drawing : SVG ?
[edit]Hi Martin. I'm wondering if this picture you have uploaded is coming from a SVG file. I'm looking forward to redo another one (version VB of Spitfire) to improve its quality and start from an already vectorial stub will be great. Thanks. Like tears in rain {-_-} 06:25, 20 September 2018 (UTC)
- Hi, it was not originally SVG, but tif file, which I drew for the magazine Military revue in printable quality, about 40 MB. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cizek Martin (talk • contribs) 07:59, 20 September 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply. We'll try something with the designers on the Wikipedia in french. Like tears in rain {-_-} 08:47, 20 September 2018 (UTC)
Hurricane drawing
[edit]Hello Martin: Hope that you can help. I'd like to use your VG Hurricane profile in a booklet for Eastbourne Local History Society (registered charity 283924) - it would go together with another profile, an Me 110 (for which I already have the artist's permission). No one will receive any payment for this booklet - it's a labour of love. I know that the image is on Commons but I'm totally spooked by the copyright legalese. In a nutshell the situation is this: your image would go on the front cover with the Me 110 - flying in the opposite direction. Other than the name of the History Society, the name of the author and a title, there would be nothing else on the cover. Of course, full credit would be given and any necessary declaration can be included on the credit page. I'd be happy to send you a copy of the booklet when it's done - hopefully around mid August. With a bit of luck and a tailwind, we might sell 100 or so copies - all monies to go the the History Society, of course. Thanks in advance for your comments. - Hello, you can use my drawing of Hurricane of the 46th Squadron on the cover of booklet. If you send me your e-mail, I can send you the print data of the drawing. What is the topic of the booklet?
OK Martin that is VG news indeed - thank you. I will try to send you a PM Also thanks for pointing out the correct designation, which is duly noted. Not sure why my User Name did not appear - hope it's on screen now. It is Mikeo1938. --Mikeo1938 (talk) 08:16, 29 May 2020 (UTC)

The designation Me 110 is wrong, it is a journalistically inaccurate name (which has become widespread), the correct official designation issued by RLM is Bf 110, see eg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messerschmitt_Bf_110. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cizek Martin (talk • contribs) 06:06, 28 May 2020 (UTC)
OK Martin: Pse e-mail me via (info@eastbournehistory.org.uk) and put my name (Michael Ockenden) in the subject line. They will forward it to me. If you go to (http://www.eastbournehistory.org.uk/publications.php) you will see a list of the History Society's publications - I am the author of two of them. My booklet is to be an account of the events of 16 Aug 1940 when a Bf 110 was shot down over Eastbourne. Over many years (starting in the 1970s) I researched this incident from the British side and from the German side. I traced the widow of the German pilot and interviewed her in Munich; I corresponded with former members of the Luftwaffe unit ZG2; I also identified the RAF pilot but alas he did not survive the war. However, I am in touch with his daughter. Parts of the aircraft narrowly missed my mother (and me!) when it broke up in the air. At the time I was a child in a pram. There is a great deal of interesting information and I want to publish it for our history society for the anniversary. Looking forward to hearing from you and with renewed thanks. --Mikeo1938 (talk) 09:07, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
- I send the print data of Hurricane. You should have a link to it in the email
The topic of Your booklet is interesting. Let it succeed according to your plan. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cizek Martin (talk • contribs) 12:44, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
- OK again Martin. I will ask the History Society to check the e-mails and they will forward your e-mail to me. I am grateful for your help. Your image will be fully credited and it will go on the front cover of our booklet. I will send you by post a copy of the booklet when it is ready - hopefully in mid-August. Best regards - --Mikeo1938 (talk) 07:54, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
- Thank You. My postal address is in the mail. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cizek Martin (talk • contribs) 04:45, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
- OK Martin - perhaps they have not checked the mail. But nothing received yet. Pse send it again to (info@eastbournehistory.org.uk) Thanks in advance. Also because they get a lot of mail - some spam - pse write my name in the subject line. (Michael Ockenden) --Mikeo1938 (talk) 08:46, 1 June 2020 (UTC)
- I send it now. It's just a downloadable link. The drawing is too large to be sent via plain mail. They might look in the spam. Or you can write me your own mail, it will be easier, then sending via other people.
- OK Martin ... pse send it to me at michael.ockenden@online.fr
Thanks in advance. --Mikeo1938 (talk) 10:17, 2 June 2020 (UTC)
- I sent it now. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cizek Martin (talk • contribs) 10:28, 2 June 2020 (UTC)
