Your bot does NOT check the licence status

A number of images that are copyright have been uploaded.
Your bot has mindlessly added templates and/or categories to these unlicenced images.
I think you need to modify the bot to check the licence. Cheers, Pdfpdf (talk) 10:32, 14 October 2010 (UTC)

P.S. FYI, I spend nearly all of my time on English wikipedia, (w:User talk:Pdfpdf), and don't check commons with any regularity or frequency. Pdfpdf (talk) 10:32, 14 October 2010 (UTC)

The correct way to mark files as copyright violations is using Commons:Template:Copyvio. That way the files are categorised as copyright violations and an administrator will look at them and probably delete them. Blanking description pages or writing COPYVIO does not help much and will just confuse bots. /90.229.129.137 (talk) 10:49, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
Yes, I eventually worked that one out. Nevertheless ... Cheers, Pdfpdf (talk) 11:00, 14 October 2010 (UTC)

Strange categories

Hi, I bring to your attention that your Bot has added a number of very strange categories to a new file, Dimensional_Proof_Pythagoras.gif. OK for changing from Geometry to Geometrical figures, and for adding Dimension, but where did the Bot see Human behavior, Motion and Free will? --GianniG46 (talk) 14:24, 14 October 2010 (UTC)

The bot is blind, he not sees connections but simply acts based on references between Wikipedia categories and Commons categories. In this case the image is used in en:Dimensional analysis, that page is categorized as follows:
So, according to en.wikipedia.org, there is a connection in a hierarchical category tree. Maybe the categorization of Dimensional analysis is wrong, maybe the use of the image in that article is wrong. --Martin H. (talk) 14:46, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
OK, thanks, I have seen that the categorization of the article is wrong. --GianniG46 (talk) 00:26, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

Hi, quite related: File:Grünau Railway Station.jpg was categorized totally wrongly. In this case I cannot see any problem with the categories in the en article Grünau, Namibia. --Pgallert (talk) 08:16, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

This is not totally wrong. Totally wrong would be churches in Europe, this is just the bot traveling higher up the category tree. Just take a look in which categories the enwp article is categorized and travel up the tree in en:Category:Namibia geography stubs. Multichill (talk) 11:34, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
