Vegas
[edit]F.Y.I. Las Vegas - You might like to update your Hotel description for you Las Vegas Hotel photo website - in particular, your image depicting the Manadalay Bay Hotel is incorrect - unfortunately it is "actually" the Excalibur Hotel. The Mandalay Bay has the shape of a Tri-star (similar to the Mercedes emblem) and was the last hotel on the strip. I stayed at the Manadalay Bay - memories of the questionable service while there are still etched in my mind. Hi! The deletion of this picture has been asked at Commons:Deletion requests/Image:Walt Disney with Mickey Mouse: the statue was created by Blaine Gibson in 1993. Therefore, it's still copyrighted. Unfortunately, freedom of panorama does not apply to statues in the USA. If you disagree, please say it so quickly. Jastrow (Λέγετε) 19:35, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

use of Brentwood Town Centre photo in print ad
[edit]Hi,
I was wondering if you'd mind if I used your Brentwood Town Centre photo in a print ad for an insurance broker who has a location in the mall.
We actually have an office about 10 blocks away, but it would save me having to send someone to take the photo.
You can reach me at 604.982.2910 or jared.huber@icbc.com
Thanks for your help.
Regards,
Jared Huber

[edit]Thanks — it’s one I’ve had sitting around for a while, but I’ve only put it up so far on the non-English Wikipedias that were still using my old map that didn’t have VCC-Clark. I’m working on a ‘future’ version, but it still needs some work in the Broadway area. DavidArthur 20:38, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
- I’ll change the Lake Burnaby — thanks for pointing that out — but Main Street is intentional: since Science World is no longer called Science World, I thought it was more worthwhile to use that space to mention the connection to Pacific Central Station. DavidArthur 22:49, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
Cleveland Dam
[edit]Hi. I would like to use your photo in a display at Cap Suspension Bridge Park. I cannot credit/attribut you though, as none of the images are being credited. Mostly purchased from commercial photographers. The display is permanent and the image would appear at 9"x9". It would be huge help. Please contact me at esalo@pantherconstructors.com. I'm Erin. Thanks.
An edit
[edit]I edited a photo of yours, so I could nominate it for Featured Picture Status. Since your free-use license stated that you wished to be informed about anything to do with your pictures, I thought I'd let you know. Sarcastic ShockwaveLover (talk) 00:58, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 08:57, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

File:Tar-eleph-pano.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

Thanks for uploading File:Drewmiller.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded (:File:Drewmiller.jpg ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Buchanan-Hermit. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Buchanan-Hermit~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
Community Liaison, Wikimedia Foundation
