Bird pic size
[edit]Great work on the birds, but a few points:
Why are your pics so small? Imagine how superb they will look to the reader at full screen! I know you say hi-res is available from you but why not upload the hi-res? WP likes the largest possible size so that other people can have the best possible copy if they want to use the pic. I upload at full size which, for an unclipped pic from my camera, is 2200 pixels wide and compressed to about 700K in size. Yours are about 300 pixels wide.
Please don't remove pics just because you have a better one, for example in the Wikipedia en:Masked Lapwing article , put the others either lower down the article or put them in a Gallery as I have done on that article.
Please tell the reader in what country and where in that country each pic was taken, it's important to know if the bird is in a zoo or in the wild. Thanks for your excellent pictures - Arpingstone 10:22, 22 February 2006 (UTC)
Larger Fairy-wren
[edit]Could you please upload a larger photo of Image:Variegatedfairywren.jpg? It is a really nice photo, and I would love to see it at full size. Thanks --LiquidGhoul 12:12, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

Identify a bird
[edit]Hello,
Could you please help me identifying that bird ? Image:Australian-big-black-bird.jpg It was in Canberra near my house. I don't think it is a raven. Is it a crow ?
Sonia.Padrun 10:23, 21 December 2006.
Ravens and Crows are all part the same genus, Corvus. The question should not be "is it a raven or a crow", but rather, "which raven/crow is it?". Its massive heavy bill indicates possibly a Forest Raven, Corvus tasmanicus, although according to my book this species is not common in the Canberra region. Brett.donald 14:01, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Brett.donald. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Brett.donald~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
