Prince Harry and the Sidney Opera House
Hi, if the opera house is not visible, it should not be categorized. Sidney Harbour is also not visible: should we also add it as a category here? Seriously? --Cosal (talk) 17:45, 11 May 2021 (UTC)
- It doesn’t have to be visible, it was the location where the photographs were taken *sigh*. Also Sydney isn’t Sidney. Bidgee (talk) 22:12, 11 May 2021 (UTC)
- A selfie! on Commons? categorized as you insist? be serious. --Cosal (talk) 13:59, 4 June 2021 (UTC)
- You called it a "a personal selfie"! It clearly isn't, someone else (possibly media) is taking a photo and it was a public event. *sigh* Bidgee (talk) 02:49, 6 June 2021 (UTC)

Beautiful plane photos
Hi Bidgee, just want to say that your plane shots are amazing. Goodness, I can't achieve shots like that with a crap lens that i busted. Keep up the great work, cheers --Nim Bhharathhan (talk) 17:55, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
- I'd second this - you're doing yet more great work with those drone photos. Thanks so much. Nick-D (talk) 08:47, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
Mongol gif
Why are you insisting on the 2006 edition? It obviously does not have South Sudan, makes the "modern map" not modern at all. Flix11 (talk) 12:42, 2 September 2021 (UTC)

Memorial Airfield
revert - I thought a "Memorial Airfield" name means an open-air museum, sorry. --Figure19 (talk) 14:38, 25 September 2021 (UTC)
identity
Hi Bidgee - I've moved File:Corellas in tree Redcliffe-2= (6188459104).jpg from Category:Cacatua sanguinea (where you'd placed it) to Category:Cacatua tenuirostris (feral) on the basis of that incredibly long bill, and C. tenuirostris being cited as feral in the Brisbane area. I could be wrong, though; could you check please, and undo if I'm wrong. If I am wrong, I'd appreciate some info on why; I'm struggling to understand how corellas can be identified, if birds with abnormal bills occur, as they can do in so many other species. Thanks! - MPF (talk) 20:43, 14 October 2021 (UTC)

Small world
I was quietly minding my own business, scanning Facebook, when someone in a local plane-spotters group for Birmingham posted a link to this:
and look! there's one of your photos. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 16:52, 23 November 2021 (UTC)

Your most memorable shot of 2021
Happy New Year! As always at the beginning of the new year, I'm inviting you to share your most memorable shot of the past year. Which of your photos stood out in 2021? Which image created special memories that you'd like to share with others? On behalf of the Commons Photographers User Group I wish you, your family, and your friends all the best for 2022. Warmly, --Frank Schulenburg (talk) 03:25, 8 January 2022 (UTC)
Reminder
Hi again Bidgee. I noticed that you've made a malformed deletion request. Here, {{Delete}} is not for speedy deletion, please see COM:DP. When you want to delete a page by manually using the {{Delete}} template (rather than the automatic Nominate for deletion tool in the Tools menu on the sidebar per COM:DR#Starting requests), you must follow the instructions in the template, including the "Click here to show further instructions" portion (or Commons:Deletion requests/Listing a request manually policy), otherwise you will create a lot of work for other people. — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 12:05, 25 January 2022 (UTC)

Ellen Roberts Image
Hey! I recently updated significantly Ellen Roberts profile on Wiki in line with the other olympic softballers for Australia.
I noticed you did a lot of the photos on the other pages and wondered if you had one of her to finish the article off nicely?

About last revert: I've added the source you've given to wikidata. Subject is now automatically in the category Knights of the Legion of Honour which is more specific. Feel free to remove the redundant Recipients of the Legion of Honour now. Henxter (talk) 23:23, 8 February 2022 (UTC)
Categorization of Category:Ryan's Hotel, Thirroul
Hi Bidgee, could you please explain why you reverted the edit adding Category:Hotels in New South Wales to Category:Ryan's Hotel, Thirroul? Ryan's Hotel provides accommodation, as you can see from its website. —Granger (talk · contribs) 00:33, 17 April 2022 (UTC)
- Because it was completely unnecessary, it is a reason why there is “Hotel and pubs” categories (which is for places like Ryan’s Hotel), while Hotel categories are for places like Hilton, Rydges ect. Bidgee (talk) 03:53, 17 April 2022 (UTC)

Alright I will stop overwriting existing as a courtesy also inform Foozwah not to go around to every page on wikipedia and removing all the photos i had taken after doing countless trains trips to go and photography not all of them were of bad quality like it has been claimed see that photo of Joan of Arcs Church in Brighton Can that be reinstated to the Brighton victoria wikipedia page? --Celco85Celco85 (talk) 10:30, 25 April 2022 (UTC)
Hi:
I have updated the source of the coordinates used to make this map by @DiamondIIIXX: . Is it enough to cancel its deletion?

Have tried
repeatedly over time to catch up - what is the best means, or am I persona non grata for some reason? JarrahTree (talk) 07:10, 1 June 2022 (UTC)
- Depends how you've tried to contact. As I've not received anything. Anyone who calls my phone now goes straight to voice mail (thanks to the ebay/Amazon/NBN ect scams), nothing worst when they call when working, relaxing or sleeping. Emails, I haven't got anything. Not on Telegram, got sick of the notifcation spam. Anyway off to work now. Bidgee (talk) 07:16, 1 June 2022 (UTC)
Save the date: Commons Photographers meeting next week
Dear member of the Commons Photographers User Group,
Please save the date: on Saturday, June 19th, our next virtual Zoom meeting is going to take place. As you know, one goal of these meetings is to share knowledge about different types of photography. This time, we've lined up the following presentations:
- Photography in Nigeria
- Photographing vehicles
- I started printing my images – here’s what I've learned so far…
If you'd like to participate in this event, please consider signing up on this page. Also, if you'd like to present at one of the next meetings, please send me a quick note. Sharing your experiences and learnings with others can make a huge difference!
I wish you, your family, and your friends all the best! Hope to see you on the 19th.
Warmly, --Frank Schulenburg (talk) 03:13, 8 June 2022 (UTC)
This Sunday!
Hi, this is just a quick reminder: the next virtual meeting of our user group is scheduled for Sunday, June 19, 16:00 UTC. Topics are: “Photography in Nigeria”, “Photographing Vehicles”, “Wildlife photography and citizen science”, and “I started printing my images – here’s what I've learned so far…”. I'm thrilled about this great agenda and I'm looking forward to connecting with you again. Stay safe and all the best, --Frank Schulenburg (talk) 03:08, 18 June 2022 (UTC)
Guinea Airways Lockheed Electra model 10
Hello! I'm not sure I understand all the aircraft categories, so I thought I'd ask you! :-) I've just added a couple of photos to Category:VH-AAU (aircraft), but there was already one in there of a hot air balloon. Is that correct? Should I create a separate cat for the Guinea Airways aircraft? — Sam Wilson ( Talk • Contribs ) … 13:22, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
- Have fixed it. Category:VH-AAU (aircraft) becomes the disambiguation category and then it forks off into separate categories. Bidgee (talk) 13:40, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
- Ah, makes sense now! Thanks, and thanks for fixing those other ones too. :-) — Sam Wilson ( Talk • Contribs ) … 23:44, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
Cacatua tenuirostris
Hi Bidgee - 'why not just move instead of lumping them into a single category that covers the whole country?' - I had felt there weren't enough files to make subdividing them by state necessary. But I've no objection to your changes - MPF (talk) 21:31, 31 July 2022 (UTC)

You're invited to provide input…
Dear fellow member of the Commons Photographers User Group,
At our last meeting end of August, we talked about getting in touch with the Wikimedia Foundation and offering our help for improving Wikimedia Commons. Today, I invite you to provide your input on a draft open letter to the Foundation. Over the course of the next ten days, we'll further improve the text together, before inviting people to sign it. If you're interested in providing input, please engage in the discussion on the talk page of the draft.
In the meanwhile, I hope you're well and have a great time taking photos! All the best, --Frank Schulenburg (talk) 08:42, 20 September 2022 (UTC)

Question from the CPUG Board
Dear user group member,
I'm writing you to today on behalf of the board of the Commons Photographers User Group. The past year has been a busy one for us. In 2022, we've had more activities than ever before in the history of our group and you'll find an overview on our group's page.
With that being said, 2022 was also a year of learning for the current board members. Most of us hadn't been involved in running the Photographers User Group and we spent quite some time on getting used to our new roles. We all feel it was a steep learning curve.
That's why, at our last board meeting, we decided to ask our members whether they'd be ok with us serving for another year. Extending our board duties to the end of 2023 would allow us to continue the work we've started this year, and to benefit from the knowledge we've built over the past twelve months.
However, in the end, it's up to you and the other members of our group to decide whether such an extension of our board term should be granted. I invite you to voice your opinion on this page:
Commons:Commons Photographers User Group/Board Elections 2022
We'll gather feedback until December 27, and we'll keep you in the loop about the outcomes of this process.
Thanks so much for your ongoing support of our group. I wish you, your family, and your friends all the best.

Most memorable shot 2022 / Wikimania 2023
Dear member of the Commons Photographers User Group,
I wish you a Happy New Year! As it has been our tradition at the beginning of the new year for a while, we're sharing our most memorable shots of the past year with each other. I invite you to share a picture that is particular meaningful to you and to describe why that's the case. Also, as Wikimania 2023 will be here before we know it (August 16 to 19), please consider adding your thoughts on our planning page, where we gather ideas for how we can make Commons photography more visible than in the years before.
All the best to you, your family, and friends! --Frank Schulenburg (talk) 21:01, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
