Notification about possible deletion

[edit]
Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

DGS

[edit]

Hi, the DGS terms of use are incompatible with COM:L, e.g. the explicit permission for commercial usage is missing. Please don't make up your own license templates. Jcb (talk) 21:21, 7 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Jcb: There are several license templates without explicit permission for commercial usage included, why are they allowed and this not? The Minnesota State Geological Survey does have it's own template as well as the USGS, I saw no reason not to create one for Delaware. --Avg W (talk) 21:25, 7 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Jcb: Also - I see nothing on COM:L requiring explicit inclusion of commercial use in the license, only instructions not to include licenses which are explicitly non-commercial. The DGS doesn't prohibit commercial use anywhere in their license. Would contacting them for confirmation on this resolve the issue? --Avg W (talk) 21:28, 7 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Contacting them could be helpful, please make sure that OTRS receives the conversation. USGS explicitly uses a standard license: Public Domain (PD). If DGS meant to release their content into PD as well, it would be helpful if they would call it that way. Their current usage terms are too vague to be useful for us. Thank you very much, I will contact them for clarification in that case. It is good to see that there is a process to account for email communication.Avg W (talk) 21:39, 7 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
