Name: Sven Littkowski Nationality: German Born: the late 60ies of the 20th century AD.
Sven Littkowski was born during the late 60ies of the twentieth century, and grew up in Germany, having one brother born three years later. His first computer experiences dated back to the mid-eighties, when he participated a project to digitalize books and make them available for reading online (not on the Internet which was not yet existing for the public, but available on public computers).
Soon after, he studied software development and finished at around 1991. His first international certificates and degrees date back to that time.
During 1990 to 1992, he was in several countries during his two "Voyages Around The World in Eighty Days" (so called among his family and friends). He was in Japan (where he climbed the Fuji Yama and the Eniwa Dake), in Hong Kong, in Thailand, Mauritius, Hungary, Italy, Kenya, Madagascar, France, USA, Canada and Jamaica. And indeed, the time frame of each of these two voyages was approximately eighty days.
He always considered himself as one of the last adventurers, and liked the risk and places no one else would go. The last country of his two voyages which he visited in 1992 was Jamaica, and he returned a few times to that country (1995, 1996 and 1998) before he finally moved to Jamaica in 1999.
He worked there for several companies, but finally registered his own company Jamaica Focus in the summer of 2004. The focus of his business was the development of websites, online databases, content management systems, e-commerce and streaming broadcast. In 2008, he was promoted to become director of the SBAJ (Small Business Association of Jamaica), in which his company was a member. His company also became member of the powerful PSOJ (Private Sector Organization of Jamaica).
By late 2008, his company provided the websites for around 50% of the newspapers in Jamaica, as well as for many other NGOs (non-government organizations), public organizations and private sector companies. His websites were unique, as the contents were scrollable but the company logo of his clients and the company names remained always in the screen for best branding, as well as the links remained permanently fixed in the screen. His websites were very complex.
His private life was as colorous as his business life.
Since the early eighties and possibly before, he had a deep interest for ancient Roman ships. His interest grew deeper. In the mid-eighties, he certified as CMAS scuba diver, and in 2003, he became a registered member of the DEGUWA.org, a maritime archaeological society participating maritime excavation projects. Littkowski also published a big number of own reconstructional sketches of ancient ships of the Roman and Byzantine time, which can be found at Wikipedia. He also founded an open source Internet-based project for maritime archaeology and related sciences, through which he published these hi-resolution illustrations. At a point of time, around the begin of 2008, there was a book published in the United States of America by author Steven M. Miller, which featured a part of Sven's work. Another book by the same author and featuring Sven's work was published in the spring of 2009.
Sven Littkowski was the founder of the Evolutions! game (currently their development forums are at: http://Evolutions.Jamaica-focus.com/f), a FreeWare and OpenSource game which got by November 2009 a community of over 600 developers from all around the world.
His other interests were palaeontology, and astronomy. People say he was a good and inventive hobby cook. His ice creams were appreciated by many of his friends.
Sven Littkowski was opf a good educational level and a true atheist, tolerant to every race, religion and class. He promoted clearly and in public his opinion to unite mankind and have only one government, that would make expensive armies obsolete and free up resources to fight global hunger, environmental problems and boost the science. He disliked parents who would take out their own children from school education because the children would be confronted there with lessons not solely related to the religion of the parents. That he saw happening often in Jamaica, and spoke sharply against such manners. In his view, each child would have the right for full education.
Sven was a quiet person, speaking about himself as a man preferring the "outside position of the game" , the loneliness, rather than to be inside big groups. He was one of the calm, silent persons.
