About Me
[edit]Hi, I'm Simon or Si if you'd prefer. I work with Philosophy, History, and Linguistics. I was born in Australia but if you'll notice, the user template that indicates as such doesn't include the word 'proud', as I don't personally believe in patriotism, I'm an internationalist.
In terms of philosophy, I particularly enjoy reading Stirner, Camus, and Sartre, and would probably consider myself an absurdist in the same vein as Camus did himself. I'm more likely to lean towards rationalism because I like to trust in what I've got with me as opposed to what's around me; but that said I'm not opposed to transhumanism.
I make Alternate History and OTL History maps in my free time, so you'd best bet I know historical and modern political geography well.
I have a tendency to pick up new languages, or at least attempt to learn them. You can find a list of them below. I'm a native English speaker, and while writing my grammar doesn't fit into either North American or Commonwealth/Australian English, instead it's a mix of both, of the elements which I find most pragmatic. I generally refer to places by endonyms, that is, what the people who live there call it. I have also learnt how to read and transliterate the Cyrillic, Greek, and Etruscan alphabets. I hate abugidas.
