How to upload a photo to Wikimedia Commons

I've talked to you about donating a photo. Thanks for wanting to help. Here’s what to do.

  1. Open the upload page is a separate tab: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:UploadWizard
  2. If you have an account on Commons or on Wikipedia (it's the same thing), log in. If you haven’t, create one (it’s free; you can use your real name or a moniker).
  3. Upload the file. State that you took the photo. The default license that it offers is best.
  4. Do not worry about categories etc. If you can keep it blank, do so.
  5. Let me know the URL of the file; I’ll make sure that everything is fine and add categories etc.
