Ranabhardari is not a surname. It's a combination of surname 'Rana' and region " bhardar". I used this name to give a identity to people who lived in this beautiful area surrounded by in the East by "Ghantakarana" , "Rudranath" in the South, snow belt of himalaya in the north and "Tiuna ka Danda" in the West. Sauda Bhardar is a beautiful place blessed by Maa Mathiana devi. Sauda is a gramsabha of Four village likewise Khandgoan, Kamadgoan, Mulyagoan and Pujjargoan. Kandgoan is my village and today lived 47 families who belong to one Kul(clan) all are 'Rana rajput'. In Kamadgoan a village of 'Kathait Rajput" lived about 90 families. Mulyagoan is a small village of 60-70 families and all are Rana Rajput. forth village is Pujargoan, as named itself describe , village of Purariyo ka. Purari is not a cast , those who used to worship our Devi / Devta's on behalf of devotees called purari. by cast they are called Notiyal and about 20-25 families lived.

Culture: As far as culture is associated it is like all Garwali and Pahari. People are fond of Folk music and dance. and used to celebrate all festival with full enjoyments.

Varna (Cast) System: Here cast system is like those described in our Veda's. Having four varna. Brahmin's, Rajput, Vesya and Shudra (Scheduled cast). Saunda Gramsabha has four village and all has Rajputs. Nearby village is Dandakheel where Schedule cast lived. He have their own way of livelihood, One who used to make Kanda, Sweta and other wooden things is called "Rudya", Those who used to make Dathada, Kula, Thamala, Kuladi and all iron work is called "Luhar". and those who used to sing, keep Dol , Damau a traditional music instruments used when there was some religious puja, marriage and other fund & fond occasions.

Devi / Devta:- Maa Mathiana maa. We all native of Saunda bhardar has our east devi maa Mathiana maa, Temple is situated at Mathiana Khal. Maa Mathiana is our worship deity. Maa Mathiana is placed a siddhapeeth among other devi mandirs. In every Navratra All local devi /devta are placed at Mathiana sain from Pujargoan where they have their own place to stay has been distributed by puraria. All devi /Devta has their Nisan/Kalas. In the presence of Madapati, Dol & Damaoo all Nishan/Kalas are moved to Mathiana sain. where they have to say upto Navratra. Maa Mathiana maa is believed to be a roop of Maa Kali. around 20 year back almost 30-60 Buffalo(Bela) and approx 500-1000 goats were sacrificed at the time of every Navratra. All devotees used to mark the bood (Tilak) on their forehead as a blessing of Maa Mathiana. time has changed and with the help of Thakur Kunwar Singh and RB a notification was brought and gazette was released to banned the scarification of Animal at the Mandir. Since then bali pratha is totally banned. however, people of old thoughts used to do this at other place.

Ghantakaran Ghantakaran devta is our Estdevta. Mandir is situated on the top of Gandiya danda. it is believed that Gantakaran is belong to Pandava's. 200mtr area below mandir from every side is under holy control of Ghantakaran devta (called Quar). Every month Purari on the occation of Sankranti opend the door and worship by offering pure deshi gee and Milk. As per old stories, Ghantakaran mandir is guarded by Nagraj and those who are doing wrong things they can not entered into the mandir. Every 12 year Ghandyala kee Jaat a week long worship/puja is organised by Saunda Bhardar.

Personal:- My forefather name was Rana Shamsher Singh who was then Thakur of Sisodia a province of Mewar Dynasty appointed Thakur rana by Maharaja Udai Singh-II( Father of great Maharana Pratap), Had worked as Thakur rana for Maharana Pratap for 7 year and after the bravery death of Maharana Pratap they left Sisodia village during 1570 and came to Tehri with his family for Badrinath and Kedarnath Yatra. As per My grandfather, that time beauty and peace in Himalayan region forced them to decide to live here for forever. and decided to settled in Sauda Bhardar Patti. Since then we are living in the same place. It was the magic hand that we used to say "time" . Once upon a time our forefather were lived as Royal and ruled as Thakur 'rana' and now we have to go out to other region for livelihood. My Grandfather late Shri Rana Fateh Singh was a noble man and lived in poverty but never compromise, He had pulled rickshaw in Massoorri, As as farmer made developed a apple garden, planted many plant around our surroundings, Made very hard work to developed agricultural land. he always used to say, Never harm anyone, don't be egoistic, give respect to every Religion, and always try to be noble man. he said never keep "Aham"(ego) because time (the samay) has big power and the star's never stop for anyone's fortune. He said, We belong to Royal family , our forefather was Thakur of Mewar Riyasat and now we have to live in poverty, This is called walk to stars so be noble and first try to be a human than search for religion.

Even Tehri Maharaja Manvendra Shah once called him at his Delhi residence and offered him recognisation and pension but he refused and said I believe in my own earning and I don't want to take help from others. He always stand firm to his words through out his life. He remain healthy throughout in his life and never took any medicines. At the age of 98 year he died in Firozpur in 2000, God has given him 'Swarga" because he never harmed any one and always thought for the help of needy and poor. I have much respect for him not as a grandson but as a human.

This is called destiny. and every people have their destiny. The things ever counted is our behavour and good work that give us immortality.
