This is a list of tors on Dartmoor with brief details of the tor and of a representative image on Commons. This page is to serve as a checklist to ensure quality photographs of each tor are obtained and uploaded to Commons.

Tors marked with a blue background not located within access land or the MOD ranges, and so may not be readily accessible. The 4 figure grid references, elevation and prominence figures are approximate and there purely as a guide, this is about getting images not producing an encyclopaedic list.

Details about list

The main list below consists purely of features within Dartmoor National Park named "tor" on current 1:25000 OS maps (plus High Willhays), this is means it is far from comprehensive. Additional lists will be added as time goes on for other classes of features. Please discuss what needs to be added on the talk page.

I hope to expand the list to include:

  1. Any rock formations that are not named as a tor, but clearly are a tor - Buckland Beacon is example below
  2. Any tors noted in other sources other than the OS maps
  3. Any on Dartmoor but outside the national park (Whatever that means).
  4. Significant hills on Dartmoor, such as Hangingstone, Cut and Ryder's Hills.

Images

Any photo of a tor is acceptable. However, it is preferred that they meet the following criteria:

  1. Correctly Geotagged
  2. Are of a sufficient resolution to typically qualify as a quality image, that is at least 2 megapixels - naturally an exception exists for images that are Quality or Featured, but below that resolution.

Images that meet both requirements have a green background to the quality entry, if they meet one it will be yellow and neither red. All other technical criteria will be ignored, however, try to upload pictures of a good standard.

For simplicity only the first image uploaded of a tor will be included in this table, unless the original fails the standards above and a later one qualifies, in which case it will be replaced. Exception: Featured and Quality images will take precedence (of course).
