Indigenous Knowledge

Traditional knowledge, indigenous knowledge & local knowledge refer to knowledge systems embedded in the cultural traditions of regional & local communities. Traditional knowledge includes types of knowledge about traditional technologies of subsistence (example tools and techniques for hunting, agriculture, midwifery & ecological knowledge, traditional medicine, navigation & climate. Indigenous peoples & local communities are especially vulnerable to environmental degradation, climate change & poor forestry practices thus traditional knowledge, indigenous knowledge & local knowledge these kinds of knowledge are crucial for subsistence & survival because they are based on observation of the environment. The transmission of traditional knowledge across generations is fundamental to protecting & promoting indigenous peoples cultures and identities and as well as the sustainability of livelihoods, resilience to human-made & natural disasters & sustaining culturally & economic development. Protecting & valuing traditional knowledge is critically important to ensure that the future generations can learn from various knowledgeable ideologies.
